This is a question that many real estate agents ask after finding out that their client does not want them as their agent. Losing a client is very hard for real estate agents, even though we all understand you can't satisfy everyone. By asking what went wrong?, agents have an opportunity to learn from their mistakes. By doing this we can improve our customer relations skills to make sure that they are completely satisfied with the job we are doing. He are a few things that is a sure-fire way to lose clients.

1. Don't show up on time for an appointment. Making a bad first impression is never a good idea.

2. Don't have an argument with the client or a spouse in front of the client.

3. Don't effectively market the property.

4. Don't keep the flier box full

5. Don't update pictures on the MLS or site you use for listings.

6. Don't communicate effectively with the clients.

Remember you are a professional, you need to make sure you act like one. When you don't it can cost you a deal.

Great point!  To be truly sucessful an agent must look at eac propect as the next way to feed their family...that usually garuntees the service level needed.

Without the customers we have nothing.

How true!!  But sometimes even with the best of efforts put forth by the agent, the client needs a reason why the house didn't sell...........

and the agent is it.

Also - don't follow up with your client on a weekly basis. (I guess that falls under effective communication)

Matthew, I think its the little things sometimes that make all the difference in the world and create an overall good perception of your work.

Peggy, I agree. The little things are sometimes the things that make or break a deal.
