It's A Small World After All

I'll fess up, when I started blogging I didn't do it in order to express myself to the world.  I did it more as an SEOOld Boxing Match tool.  I was really surprised when fellow activerainers started paying attention to what I had to say and I've really gotten a kick out of the sense of community, as well as an occasional intellectual sparring match.

Well, something happened last night that somewhat freaked me out.  My son, who lives in Auburn Alabama where he goes to college, emailed me a link to a blog called the Kansas Curmudgeon  that had a posting about the mortgage crises.  I read the post and made a comment on it.  A few minutes later I got an email that a new comment had been made on this blog, so I went tdrunk santao check it out.

It turns out that this guy in Kansas was familiar with me through my blogging!  Imagine that!  He spoke very kindly of me and even posted a link to my website!  I went to bed thinking, "How cool!".

Today after I woke up, laid in bed and thought about the significance of this "stranger" having read at least some of my blogs and it dawned on me.  This blogging thing is bigger than I thought!  If this guy was reading what I wrote, who else was?  Later this morning I got an email from a former client telling me that she had stumbled across a blog that I had written on my current rehab project!

I was like, "Wow!  I'm going to have to be careful here!  No more plopping down at the computer after a hard night of drinking!"  Also, I'm going to have to not be quite as casual with my blogging as I have been on occasion.  Not that I'm ashamed of anything that I've written, but people do really read this stuff and I'm going to have to be more diligent with my proofreading, sentence structure and such.

So, I guess that it really is a small world after all (cue background music) and while this is a good thing, with it comes a certain amount of responsibility.  I hope that I can handle the fortune and fame of it all!
