Close, but no Cigar...
Back when I was a kid, I picked up the saying, "Close is good in horse shoes and hand grenades". Well, close in those areas is okay but it can be good in weight loss too. As today is Rodger Mucci's weigh-in day for those who want to "Take it off in the Rain", I stepped on the scale with some trepidation this morning. Once again, my weight had been bouncing all over the map but staying well below my last major plateau.
My goal was to be at 192 by the end of the month. The weigh-in? 193, down 4 from my last "Official" weigh-in for the group. Yes, I still have a day to go and I still have the opportunity to make it, but as far as the weekly weigh-in, it will stand at 193 - Close, and I'll still take that cigar -- Thank You...

Congratulations on your progress. Weight loss is the hardest thing to do with all the temptations out there. Congratulations on hitting your goal (close enough) and sharing your success in the Rain.
Well you certainly get a cigar from me sir.............good for you Michael. Don't forget to weigh in on my post today, you may get a star also, in addition to this Feature in the group.
I missed that challenge, but kudos to you for making the effort. The good news is that there is an extra day in February.
Keep it up! We used to add "nuclear war" to your list of close things. And Vince Lombardi said close only counts in dancing...
Good for you sir I personally could not do it the old fashioned way I had to get surgery but that is another personal thing. Here's to you and all who can stick with it my hats off to you.
Michael, That is close and it counts! Any week that is essentially flat isn't a bad thing when it comes to weight control.
Mike,
If you lean all the way to the right and look at the numbers...it looks like 192 to me.
Rich
Any cigar is good to the right smoker Michael...but working on the weight is an important part of life.
Keep up the good work! Progress is progress! Close counts when you are only one pound away. Get ready for the cigar! Enjoy your day!!
Hi Michael. Good for you. It gets tougher as we get older to fight the weight issue.
Good for you and it sounds like you're making progress. And, don't forget it's a shorter month than usual so don't beat yourself up. And, bonus day tomorrow.
Slow and sure wins the race Michael. How tall are you? Don't get too thin. My Dr. said at 6'2" I need to be at 200-205 and be considered good. I'm not announcing how much hevierI am than that at this time :)
Michael - I think that as you become less of Michael, it will be a slower process. The easy weight is gone already.
Congratulations! Sometimes it is best not to push yourself too hard unless you are doing it with something you can maintain. (Diet and exercise) If you do push too hard, that can lead to a bounce back and your weight can increase sharply later.
Don't eat anything else but a few cigars today, Michael. I hear they're low in calories, and with still a day to go, you just might meet your goal!
Michael, Congratulations! that is close enough and it's hard to take it off and so easy to put it on. Stay on track!
Michael-Very good! And as Debbie Gartner said.. this IS a short month. I say throw out the scale and look for one that says what you want it to.
You deserve congratulations Michael, you have been making excellent progress.
Michael, You have been doing great! Short month and a steady loss, pretty good if you ask me!
