Apparently, the answer for me is sicker than I am today.  I have a terrible cold, possibly a sinus infection and laryngitis so my options are limited today.

I am trying to get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, yadda, yadda until the little one gets home from play school.  BTW, is it feed a cold, starve a fever or feed a fever starve a cold?  Note to me:  "Call Mom and ask her which it is, also is it relevant"?

When the munchkin gets home, I am back on duty sick or not until I can get her to bed.  Normally, my Mom would come and help out but she has this crud too.   Bad timing!

surviving a cold in Hubert North CarolinaTo prove that I am not just playing hooky today and taking a mental health day (which I desperately need.....Darn! Wish I had done that last week) here is a photo of my bedside chest with all my survival supplies.

I never used to get sick but oh yeah, that was before my child went to play school where they share everything, most of all "germs" which she brings home to share with me.

Let's see I've had pink eye, strep throat, stomach viruses and other unidentified bugs in addition to the numerous colds.  Of course, it's a long drawn out process.  She gets xyz germ, gets sick, we get through that and wham!  It's Mommy's turn.

Ok, time for more juice and a nap but first I think I'll have some chicken soup.  Feed a cold, starve a fever, you know... or is it?

Hello Jennifer H.
Hope you are feeling better, I am definitely better today than yesterday.  A sick Mom is bad news for all.

Hi Teri,
That has always been the cure of choice in my family.  I think it's working.

Hi Susan,
Thanks for the tips but I just cannot do Alka-Seltzer!  You are right, this is not the time to be sick--I have so much I need to do.

Hi Darleen,
I believe stress does weaken ones immunity system but I am putting the blame for this directly on my child!  LOL!
Thanks for your suggestions.

Carol,
The thing is I can nap for awhile but when I wake up, I'm bored (no matter how bad I feel) and have to do something.
Chicken soup seems to be the cure of choice.  Thanks.

Hi Mary H.
Yelp, that's what I've been doing  along with my chicken soup.  Thanks for your visit and comments.

Marchel,
You are right N C can and does have some cold weather.  The thing is we may have a high temp in the mid 40s one day and the next it might be in the 70s.  That's the way it's been so far this Fall.
Where in NC did you live?  Sorry if you've told me before but I don't remember.

Hi Sally,
I'm normally all in favor of sharing but am ready to stop participating in the germ sharing.  Thanks.

Oh Jennifer B.
I skipped right over you!   So sorry my friend to do that to you especially after you took a risk of contamination!
Only one cold in your entire life?  Please share how you avoid them.  That is amazing!

Hi Kimberly,
I skipped you too!  I'm blaming it on my less than normal condition.  I've been trying to do exactly as you suggested.  Thanks for your visit.

Hello Jennifer F.
How are you?  I hope you're feeling better.  I've learned that I have lots of good company.  Take care.

Keith & Robin,
Thank you for the get well wishes.  I'm better, thank you.

Hi Denise,
Guess I've just started working on my immunity.  I hope it takes hold quickly.  I get your drift about the "cool water".  Hang in there.

Lisa,
True! True!  Especially when there is only Mom.  Thanks for stopping by with your get well wishes.

Hi Tom,
Mom and I both appreciate your get well wishes and we're both  much better.  Thank you for your visit and comments.

Hello Julie,
There is no one except a 3 yr old and my Dad and I'm not sure which  is more (or should I say less) helpful.  LOL!

Cynthia - Oh man...I am slacking off aren't I?  I'm sorry I missed wishing you get well wishes!  We keep Olive leaf in our house.  It's in capsule form and is known to be an immune system super booster.  I can only tell you from my family's experience that stuff ROCKS!  I purchase it at Whole Foods and only came upon it as my youngest and I both started coming down with the flu at the same time - within 24 hours we were up and at 'em...

I'm glad you're feeling better

Jackie

I'm a couple days late with my comments, so I know ya be feelin' better already!! It always makes you remember that saying, "When you have your health, you have just about everything." Nothing could be truer. And I always say,  I don't make a well sick person. Just not a pleasant one to be around!

Hello Jackie,
Thanks.  I understand, iIt happens to all of us especially this time of year when there is so very much going on.
I am definitely going to get some Olive leaf, it's worth a try.  Being sick is no fun and sure has put me behind on my to do list.
I am feeling much better and plan to be out and about today.

Hi Thom,
You're right.  Your visit found me feeling better and I agree with the saying and I think what you said goes for most men I've ever known!  LOL!

Dionne,
Isn't it wonderful?  Everyone has their own cure and is  willing to share.  I love it.  Thanks for stopping by.

Cynthia, certainly hope you are feeling better by now.  A cold can certainly put a damper on blogging, among other things.  Just make sure to disinfect your keyboard and mouse!
