Sweet Memories
Today was a day to relive some sweet memories. On vacation in California and more specifically in San Jose, while walking the aisles of a local grocery store, my wife pointed something out. Squirt soda. Ahhh my childhood favorite, but back then it was pop!
I loved Squirt pop and today I am over indulging in soda. To remember the heat of the corn fields, slowly making my way down the corn rows while cultivating that corn. It was slow, monotonous work. But the evening brought the satisfaction of drinking a can of Squirt. The hard work was simply brought to an end with the cold taste of my favorite pop.
Many years later, life has changed immensely. I now live in Pennsylvania where it is called soda and Squirt is not available. I do not farm, but sell real estate. However, the lessons of hard work and self reward at the end of a long day are still invaluable to me. Sit back and remember some important pieces of your past. Here is my glass of Squirt tipped to you!
never even heard of it. But you did make me remember shopping trips to A&P with my grands where on the first isle I got a cola and a pack of peanuts that like my Papa we dumped into the bottole of Coca-Cola. By the end of the check out we were returning our bottle for our deposit back. That's my sweet soda memory. Thanks for reminding me.
I have so many wonderful childhood memories Cal, too many to mention. But I do remember Squirt and when we were kids their was soda pop bottled in Cleveland, Ohio where I am from. They were called Little Tom's and came in 6 oz. bottles and were sold by the case, a variety of flavors. My favorite as a kid was Cream Soda.
Tammy, what a great memory with your grandparents. That is way cool that you could drink it while there and get your deposit money back so quickly. Thanks for sharing.
Roger, did not have that in Iowa, but it is a cool story. I remember one of the first diet sodas, I think, was Tab. It was good awful, but one time my Dad bought a bunch for a church activity and nobody drank it. We had it left over and was all we had around the house for a long time. So I drank it, reluctantly. Creme Soda sounds way better.

Funny what memories pop in our mind when we see something in the grocery store. Hope you are enjoying your vacation.
