Just One Short Phone Call For Fast, Effective Relief

The storm earlier this week sure feels reminiscent to last year's winter weather. Hopefully this is the last of it, but assuming more is to come, Puyallup is one step closer to providing Puyallup residents the help they need in a timely manner.

Messages left on the Puyallup Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Hotline are now being text messaged directly to designated EOC staff. Puyallup Emergency Management Director Merle Frank said the new system will allow EOC staff to immediately evaluate the emergency request and act on the request as needed.

The Puyallup EOC hotline number is (253) 770-3336 and is available 24/7. The hotline should be used for urgent, non-life threatening emergencies such as flooding, downed power lines, sheltering needs, etc. For life-threatening emergencies, citizens should call the 9-1-1 dispatch operator.

“When citizens call the EOC hotline they will be instructed to leave their name, incident address, phone number, email address, and a brief description of the emergency,” Frank said. “When we receive the message, the issue will be prioritized according to threat to life, property and the environment and we’ll be able to send help in an appropriate and timely manner.”
