So, I was at a walkthrough with one of my sellers the other day and he said "what are you not telling people you know that you were on House Hunters?"  It caught me off guard because it had been so long ago that we had taped it.  I do have a link on my website to info about the show, but you know how some things on a website are...I thought about it when I added it but now it kind of blends into the background I've been looking at it so long.

Oddly enough, the previous weekend my brother had been in the middle of the night flipping through the channels not able to sleep in his hotel room.(He travels alot for his job)  He was amused to see me on TV.  I live in RI and he in NC so we don't see each other too often.  He called me the next day to let me know.  On that same day, our office receptionist also mentioned she had seen it the night before.

It's so funny that even after all of this time I still get comments about it.  I really didn't know what would come of it when it came up.  The show called me and I figured, why not?  It was kind of a long process, I had to have my buyer send in an interview tape of sorts.  Then came the taping which was surprisingly long.  I have to say now I know why actors make the big bucks.  For every room scene they did at least 2-3 takes. My buyer bought her condo in June 2005 and the show did not air for the first time until Spring 2007.   I almost thought they decided not to air it at all.

I won't divulge how the show is taped.  As with all reality TV, it's not exactly as it appears.  Sure my buyer actually bought, etc.  There is no deception.  But I can't watch the show anymore.  I used to watch it all the time but this spoiled it for me.  I don't know why I watch most of the real estate shows even though it is my profession, but I do.  I suppose it's like my husband who owns a restaurant and still loves to watch Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, etc.  I guess we both love what we do and like to see it from other perspectives.

Anyway, if you ever get the chance to do a show, do it.  Have fun with it and who knows what will come of it!

Funny you should blog about this, I recently was sent an application form to offer my services for this show as well.  Haven't heard anything back, but didn't expect to hear back immediately.  If they do eventually call and I get to do it, I will let you know. Maybe we can swap stories.  Have a great week.

One of my associates was on a show for first time homebuyers.  It was a long process - I was on floor the afternoon they shot at the office.  Luckily (for the viewers) the morning floor person had to endure the walk in through the reception area shot (weekend so no admin).  I never did see the show - the agent is pretty modest.

Suzanne,

I am in the process of filming one of these shows for HGTV right now.  It's a lot of fun to make.  After I became a realtor, however, I haven't watched as many as I used to watch.  It's just different, can't explain.
