South Florida Homes -Solar Energy ...Go Green...Save Money and Save the Environment!

Solar energy is a great alternative to gas or electric for heating your pool.

Living in South Florida is a great way to take advantage of Solar energy. It can save a pool owner hundreds of dollars a year and add up to as much as 9 months of usage.

For a one time fee of about $3500.... you can have solar panels installed on the roof of your South Florida home and when the sun shines on the panels it causes the water in your pool to re-circulate back through the pump which will activate the thermostat  and make the pool water temparature rise. This will keep your pool warmer during the cooler winter months. If you live in the warm climate of South Florida ...we all know that the outside temperature can be in the low 70's but you can still enjoy warmer water temperatures. I bring this up because my family and I were still able to enjoy swimming during the winter. We used to have a propane gas heater but it needs to run 8-10 hours in order to be warm enough to swim be mid day. About a year ago...we removed it and now rely solely on solar energy to heat our pool.

I was fortunate to live in the PERFECT sales pitch for pool heating.

My pool and hot tub were electric heated, my rear neighbor was gas, and our side neighbor is solar.

We got to see the good and bad of all of them.

When I wanted to heat mine it could take 8 to 12 hours with a cover on pool to heat to about 84 from 68.  And if I wanted the HOTTUB to 98 it was even longer and we jumped to over $300 monthly to run heat.

When my neighbor used gas, he could heat in about 3 to 4 hours, but when gas hit todays levels, it could cost him over $400 in gas.

Our solar friend could heat his for FREE but the best he could get to in the winter was about 78.
