I believe in the old saying that you should never discuss religion or politics with people. I never write about religion or politics in any of my posts and refrain from discussing it with clients and potential buyers and sellers as well but somehow, here I am.....talking about religion, real estate and prayer.
Do I believe when I lose something Saint Anthony helps me find it? You bet I do. Do I believe that Saint Gerard is the Saint of Motherhood. You bet I do and I have 3 healthy children to prove it. Do I believe that burying Saint Joseph upside down in the ground helps you sell your house? I don't have first hand knowledge of that but I do know I love Saint Joseph pastries from Calandra's Bakery in Fairfield.
So do you want to know what prompted me to write about religion, real estate and prayer today? A post I read this morning by the KCM Crew entitled How the Serenity Prayer Applies to Selling a Home.
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.”
The KCM Crew took a spin off the simplicity of the Serenity Prayer quoted above and applied it to selling your home:
Accept the things you cannot change:
like the economy, current inventory of distressed homes, location, neighbors;
Courage to change the things you can:
pricing your home correctly, making your home easily accessible for showings, keeping it clean ;
Wisdom to know the difference:
Can you change the economy, the abundance of distressed homes, its location or your neighbors? NO you cannot.
Can you price your home correctly, make it easy to show to potential buyers, keep it neat and clean? Yes you can.
That, my friend, is an example of accepting the things you cannot change, courage to change the things you can and the wisdom to know the difference.
