No other real estate agent I’ve encountered conveys a genuine love of people more than Joann Welch, our vSites All-Star for February. In talking to Joann, you immediately sense her enthusiasm for what she does (or just enthusiasm, period). Others have taken notice too: Joann was featured last month on the Century 21 blog and will be among a handful of panelists at the Century 21 Global Conference this weekend.
Joann has built a lovely, unique website with vSites that takes advantage of a wide range of vSites features, including audio, Twitter integration, and a custom header. The vFlyer team has been admiring Joann’s site for several months now and we’re thrilled to be showcasing it on our ActiveRain blog!
Joann was kind enough to speak with me this week about real estate, what her website means to her, and why she decided to use vSites to build it.
How long have you been working in real estate?
About 11 years. I started in the mortgage industry which gave me a wonderful foundation for being a real estate agent. Through that experience, I gained insight about real estate transactions from A to Z, and that’s helped me a lot as an agent. It’s important to have as much knowledge about the process as possible when representing clients.
What do you like most about being a real estate agent?
I love meeting people, building a client base, and forming friendships. That’s the result of 99.9% of my transactions. I just love people!
How did you learn about vSites?
I’ve been a happy vFlyer customer for about 4 years now. I learned about vSites from an email I got after it was launched. I had been contemplating building a website for a while but didn’t feel comfortable with any of the companies I’d found. I didn’t feel that I would get the support I needed from them. Your website has a very distinct, modern look. Did you envision it before you started building it or did you figure out how you wanted it to look as you created it?

Why is it important for your business that you have a quality website?
It reflects your personality and the kind of business that you represent. I feel that my website shows who I am as a person and what I’m offering my potential clients. More and more people are finding me online through Facebook, Twitter, and other websites, and having both my website and flyers to connect all of them is huge.
What’s your favorite vSites feature?
I like the fact that I’m not limited to just one picture — I can upload multiple pictures anywhere on the site. I also like that I could easily add a widget for my properties. Overall, it’s just really easy to work with and, of course, I love that I can get immediate support when I need it.
Do you have any advice for someone thinking about building a website for his or her business?
I think you want to be an individual. You want to connect with your clients in any way possible. Show who you are and what makes you unique in your line of business. Most important, find a service like vSites with a support team that will walk you through things and help you when you need it.
