Real estate developers are scheduled to complete the purchase of 625 acres that will become the Bluffs of Technology Park by Feb. 24, officials say. A top official of the office park developer under contract to buy the property in North Canton said plans call for a residential developer to purchase a portion of the land in a real estate closing slated for the same time as the larger transaction.
The proposed 2006 version of the regional list of transportation projects for Cherokee County and other metro Atlanta counties is moving closer to approval, but two of the three Cherokee representatives missed a key vote. The Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) Board approved the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) list for the 2006-11 period during its regularly scheduled monthly meeting in February. The ARC Board passed the TIP by a voice vote, said Matt Hennie, an ARC spokesman.
A residential and commercial project of about 225 acres proposed for a Hickory Flat community site is drawing opposition from area residents. Ruby Forest Inc. is seeking rezoning of the tract for a proposed mixed-use development of 376 homes and up to 169,000 square feet of commercial space along Ga. 140 at its Hickory Road intersection, documents show. A site plan shows Batesville and Lower Birmingham roads pass through the land.
