Changes to Facebook Fan Pages
The developers of Facebook seem to like making changes to the platform. I am not sure their users are as excited as I normally see a lot of complaining when changes are made. Guess it goes back to my one post where I talked about how you need to embrace change…well get ready because changes to Facebook fan pages are about to take place. At the end of March all Facebook fan pages will be updated to the new timeline design. You may be familiar with this if you have it on your personal Facebook page already, the main difference is that your default landing tabs are no longer in place and instead you have pinned posts. Maybe they are taking a cue from Pinterest hhmmm. At the moment you are able to work on your page without the public being able to see it. Here is an example of what you will see:
Recommendations of Customizing the Changes to Facebook Fan Pages
-Add a cover photo that goes across the top of your fan page
-Mark posts and photos as favorites so they extend over two columns and get more exposure so people focus on them
-Add “milestones” to your timeline so customers are aware of key events in your business
-Arrange applications and custom tabs your visitors can see on your cover
-Pin posts that get them to the top of your page
Key Features to the Changes to Facebook Fan Pages
Pinned Posts- you decide what you want to be at the top of your page and it will remain there for a week then go back to the timeline on the original date of publication
Admin Panel- only page owners can see this and it will be at the top right hand corner of your page…this is where you can handle all your Facebook business
Default Landing Page- Doesn’t seem like a good change- no more landing or welcome pages. All visitors will land on your wall. How can we get around this? You can post a pin with a link to any offers you have.
Private Messages- Brands and fans can now message one another yay!
Cover Photo Rules found in Changes to Facebook Fan Pages
-Photo must be at least 399 pixels wide
-Photo may not contain- price or purchase information, contact information, no Like or Share, and no call to actions
Guess I will get working on updating Straessle Marketing Solutions’ Facebook fan page. Check back as I will post changes I make so my readers can see the new Changes to Facebook fan pages. What do you think about these changes to Facebook fan pages?
