Look What the Cats  no Dogs Drug Into the House.

These pictures were taken in San Bernardino County, city of Loma Linda. My three dogs are so sweet, play in the backyard, chase the birds, and hang out by the bird feeders. Here are two of them sunning themselves.

They were so excited when I started screaming and yelling so they dropped the rat and ran. My husband moved it out of the house and then I ran and got my camera. We put it outside to take a photo before putting it in the trash.

They certainly possess some cat-like traits for dogs.  I once had a dog who climbed trees and used to sit in apple trees.  He was real traffic stopper.

Hi Debb,

I am sure they just thought it was a great prize to bring into the house and show me but I think they like it when I get excited and yell. They run off and then hurry back to see what is happening. They were so excited.

WOW -- dogs being normal and killing rodents . . . who would have thunk.  Thanks for sharing the picture a a dead animal.  I found a dead bird in the garage yesterday, most likely brought in by one of my cats.  At no time did I think to take a picture of it and post a blog about it . . . I never thought about it because it's a repulsive photo . . . a dead bird.  What's the thought process on posting about a dead animal? Because I must have missed it yesterday.

Hi Jeff,

I guarantee if my dogs could climb up into the trees to get the birds or the birdseed, they would be up there. They are all so lovable but....their heredity comes out when they go outside. And one of my dogs, the terrier, is such a picky eater so I am sure she would never even dare taste a rat.

Hi Carla,

I think they found it and just brought it in to share with me. I would just prefer they leave it outside the door.

Dixie left a bird at the back door once.  I think she knows her Mom would not be a happy camper if she brought any prizes in the house :)

Hi Gayle,

They are so lovable but sometimes do not act the way we expect them to. My terrier likes to dig up clippings when I put them in the dirt. She leaves the plants alone but likes the clippings? She also loves to smell the flowers.

Hi John,

Dixie must have more sense than my little darlings do. I am sure they thought it was just a gift for me. NO THANKS!

Hi Jon,

I am convinced they think they are doing something nice to bring it to us and show it. My husband thinks I give them more human characteristics that they do not have. I am not sure but hope they understand a lot.

Hi Tony,

I was totally surprised as my little darlings are inside domesticated dogs. I think they found it dead as it was already stiff. I think they came upon it and decided to bring it to me and show me. Unfortunately I did not act calmly.

Oh my goodness Kristin.

My kitties are inside only so I don't get "presents" like that one.

Hi Patty,

I was so surprised and shocked as they are so sweet and domesticated but you never know. I have friends who say "Oh my dog would never bite anyone" but you never know if they felt threatened. Mine little one, white chihuahua is scared of children so I would never take a chance of her biting someone.

Have a great weekend.

Awwwww... and Ewwwwww. In that order! One of my cats once dragged into the house a very bloody, dead rabbit that was actually larger than he was. Cats! In your case... dogs!

Hi Gretchen,

I once had a cat who lived half his time outside and loved to try to catch birds but he was too fat and too slow. But I remember we had these steak knives that had rough handles and looked like alligator skin. Once I walked it the kitchen and saw one of those knives laying in the floor. So I reached down and picked it up and just about the time my brain said "that doesn't feel like a Knife" this huge lizard woke up and I screamed and threw it. Well, then of course it ran off through the house somewhere. And my cat sat there, I am sure laughing or mad that his prize had run off. But would he look for it? Nope! We had to have exterminators come. Now, I am not afraid of lizards but I was then!

Our pets are either trying to bring the prize in to protect it from others or just so show up how proud they are. Look MOM what I found!  A dead rabbit, larger that many pets, would be very shocking!!!

Hi Rob,

They tried to bring it in but I screamed and that scared them off. They were so happy and excited and I am sure they thought I would be too. Wrong! Luckily my husband came and took care of it. My sweet little girls can be so bad sometimes. Thanks for stopping.
