I have been thinking a lot recently about why some agents buy and sell houses successfully and while others in exactly the same market do not.
I will be blogging later today on another reason this might be true, but you see I came across something today In Realtor magazine that quite frankly blew me away.
Right now I'm enjoying a few days away at the beach - Treasure Island to be exact. It's beautiful here right now. Around 84 degrees, hardly a white whispy cloud in the sky. The Gulf of Mexico is like glass - if a little cool. The hotel pool is like a bath and I had to move myself to the shade of the bar after an hour to avoid sunburn!
Anyway - I digress. I'm here because I CAN be here. I'm here because I KNOW there has never been a better time to buy real estate in Central Florida than right now. I'm here because I know how to sell my homes. Take this e-mail I just received TODAY from one of my internet marketing ideas.
Hi, Can you tell me if this property is still for sale and what are the availability of mortgages to non US citizens under the current economic climate in the US as we are British Nationals. We used to own a property in ????????? (>?>?>? Street) just up the road and are thinking of buying a condo there. Kindest Regards Matthew ?>?>?>
Anyway once again I got sidetracked. You see in this month's Realtor Magazine which I was reading by the pool this morning, there is this section called "Readers' Picks" which talks about the most requested information from advertisers during the course of the last 12 months. If this is the marketing that is going on out there, then no wonder so many are struggling.
At NUMBER TWO (almost too hard to believe, but there you go) is a real estate marketing supplies company. And I quote: "Ease the process of promoting your open houses with the Open House System, which includes all the tools you'll need to draw prospects."
My friend Dan Forbes has blogged more than once on open houses. Check out his post The Origin of Open Houses and Why They DON'T Work Today: The Last Word . I too have blogged on the subject. Make sure you read my own entry as well - And YET another reason NOT to hold an Open House
And after you have digested all that, please explain to me why the NUMBER TWO most requested marketing information from Realtors is all about Open Houses. Those days are gone my friends and to sellers I once again say if your agent is suggesting to you, that an Open House will sell your home, then you have probably got the wrong agent talking to you.
