Grand Opening of New West Valley Animal Care Center.
The new West Valley Animal Care Center in Chatsworth had its Grand opening ceremony Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007.
General Manager of Animal Services Ed Boks, City Engineer Gary Lee Moore, CITY COUNCIL MEMBER Greig Smith and State Assemblyman Lloyd Levine. Was in attendance the expansion of the new West Valley Animal Care Center will help the City better serve residents and their pets, improve animal health and safety, and encourage more people to adopt pets.
Community members were also invited to tour the new facility, pet care vendors had booths with pet care and nutrition information, and professional pet portraits were available for people who adopted animals at the event. The facility is now over 22,000 sqft in size which is more than double what it was. The construction was completed on time, and under budget, and it was funded by city bonds in 2000 under proposition F.
The facility is energy efficient. Includes a new spay, and neuter clinic, larger, and more animal holding areas, and special holding area for farm animals.
