Marco Island is rich in history, and the Otter Mound Preserve sits right next to what was once home to Jim and Tommie Barfield.

Most residents know Tommie Barfield's name because our Elementary School is named for her. Such an important figure in the development of Marco Island it just seems right that her home be preserved for future generations.

In this age of tear downs on Marco Island to build bigger and better, we are losing a bit of history quickly.  Don't you think we should save a little piece of it for future generations?

Wow, it's not a very big place is it?  I'll bet there's a ton of history there.  They shouldn't even be allowed to build more since it must be a very sensitive area.
