The Southern Spring Home and Garden Show is a Charlotte tradition. Every year for the past 52 years, Charlotteans have visited the show to kick off spring at the end of February and the beginning of March. If you are ready to think about sprucing up your home and working in your garden, plan to visit the show this weekend.
Twenty eight gardens with blooming flowers and landscaped walkways are the heart of the Southern Spring Show. Over the past few years, garden designers have placed a lot of emphasis on outdoor hardscapes. Many of the gardens feature outdoor fireplaces and water features, including ponds, waterfalls, and fountains. Some even incorporate these items in the same feature. This year’s show includes an outdoor fireplace with built-in aquariums on each side.
Interior designers present six furnished rooms this year. The Festival of Tables will give you ideas for tablescapes for your home.
There are lots of opportunities at the show to talk to vendors about home improvement products. Kitchen and bathrooms receive a lot of attention at the show. The Living Green Pavilion is a great place to get ideas for environmentally-friendly products for your home.
Other displays include creations from the Ikebana Society, the Orchid Society and the Bonsai Society. You can even take classes about flower arranging.
Several stages present programs throughout the show about gardening, interior design and cooking.
The Southern Spring Home and Garden Show is at The Park Expo and Conference Center at 2500 East Independence Boulevard. It’s open March 3 from 10am until 8pm and March 4 from 10am until 6pm.
