The importance of sportsmanship

Soooo... shall we discuss the importance of sportsmanship?  When you sign a kid on to play a sport it is sort of a given that you will subscribe to the rules and support others right to do the same.

Unfortunately,  there are adults in this wide wonderful world of opportunities who do not see things that way.

The coach of the opposing team was alive with negative attitude.  He was the picture of nastiness.  His players were good at what they did.  They also gave the pursuit of every part of the sport their complete attention!

Mr coach contested every call and generally made the energy on the field foul!

At one point toward the end of the evening contest,  someone threw a non allowed ball onto the field.  It was not a cool move but it was not anything worth a tantrum!  The coach threw one about the delay, the confusion and the umpires decisions. The situation stretched on for an extended period until a  league official intervened.

Shortly afterward the play period  was over and our team had won the contest.  Our coach gave a shout of joy.  The opposing coach in another incredible display of his maturity, threw a ball at our coach!

What does conduct like this teach our aspiring athletes?  Why are people who are obviously on a power trip given positions of authority?

Unfortunately power is sometimes the only reason some people seek authority.
