Planned Parenthood's great contraception deception

Hmmm.... Guess this is yet another example of what Michael Sargent, Executive Director of The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee, would refer to as "basic preventative health care".

Food products labels are interesting things.  The ingredients list uses some...I don't know...whacked-out ranking system whereas the first things on the list are what the product contains the most of- and the last things on the list are what the product features least.  For some reason, this is usually stuff called FD& C Yellow 5 or something- but I digress.

Is Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando any different?  I doubt it.

I've always said that I have the utmost respect for anyone- anyone who says what they believe and believes in what they say.  Be it an individual or an organization, I may disagree- but I'll respect that others' opinions don't always mirror mine yet are equally as worthy.

That said, I have a serious problem with Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando.  Their hypocrisy is obvious when they have one stated "mission" that's seemingly crafted to appeal to the masses- yet run their organization with priorities that don't quite fall in line with said mission.

Planned Parenthood's great contraception deception

Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando's stated mission is "to provide affordable, quality healthcare and relevant information in support of every person’s right to make voluntary, informed decisions about family planning, healthcare and responsible sexual behavior".

Can't put it any clearer than this:  If you're gonna be baby killers (which you are), and you're going to run ads like the one above (Orlando Weekly, March 1-7, 2012) and clearly market yourselves as baby-killers (which you're doing), then don't use some phony mission statement that conveniently omits your baby-killing services.

Baby killing...Planned Parenthood of Greater Orlando's not-so-secret ingredient.

I don't think they could say it any better.  Informed decisions, family planning, quality health care. Abortion can be, and sometimes is the end result.  Sometimes not.  So be it.

But Dennis, what do you really think?

This is an emotionally charged subject.

How does it help your real estate business?

Hi, Leslie:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  As I indicated, I have no problem with folks whose views differ from mine.  There are a number of folks on both sides of this and other issues that I can disagree with, yet still respect.  This is different, though.  If your "mission" is to provide affordable health care and information, then lead with that in your advertising.  I feel that their advertising that clearly accentuates abortion is more in line with what they fight for the right to provide- they don't have to fight for the right to counsel.  That said, it's not so crazy to expect an organization's stated mission to align with its ads.

Hi, Erv:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  Agreed- this is an emotionally charged subject.  I've never been one to shy away from a fight, nor have I cowered in expressing an opinion.  How is it good for my real estate business?  I don't know- how one's posts about how puffy some clouds may look on a particular day or another's posts about overcoming cancer "good for real estate business"?  I realize others may hesitate to express their views that mirror mine, too- and respect their decisions whether to leave comments here or on any of my other posts.  Anyone- "real estate world" or "real world" can rest assured of this, though:  if I'm working for you, you have a tireless and relentless advocate;  if I'm working for someone else, I'm gonna do my best to ensure where I work is the best in town;  and if you're one of my friends, you don't need me to explain a thing- you already know all there is, and you love and respect me for the man that I am.  Hope that answers your question, Erv.

It is simple to me, Planned Parenthood should not get any federal funding and should own up to what it really does in the community.  As to the real estate thing, I don't care. Just because AR is a real estate forum, doesn't mean we can't be political.  That is what the individual groups are for.

Hi, Dale:  Thank you for stopping by, and for your comment.  My thing is that organizations like this- especially ones that get Federal funds- should simply be what they claim to be.  That's not for the benefit of folks like you and I that would know their true colors without the benefit of their overt honesty...but rather for the mass of easily-influenced dullards that aren't too bright.
