I live in the beautiful White Mountains of New Hampshire directly beside a seasonal tourist Train track. In the winter it becomes a Snowmobile corridor and a great place to Cross Country ski (snowmobile treads are perfect for preparing the snow for cross country skiing).
The Old Boston and Maine line...runs along the Pemigewasset River Valley - a Few miles from Loon Mountain.
The View Of Lafayette - Liberty and Little Hay Stack are a great bonus to this intense workout - along the river.
A Little further north we get in to the New Hampshire State forest, and the ski slopes of Cannon Mt Resort.
Back Over the Trestle Bridge and a turn for home (if you get the chance to ride the dinner train in the summer or early fall I highly recommend it...the Cafe Lafayette...rides the rails and serves a six course meal with a view)
As much fun as cross country skiing over this bridge is - Imagine swinging from a rope and launch in to the river when the weather is warmer and the summer has arrived.
Time to get off the tracks and do some bush whacking along the river...breaking the (un-tracked) crusty stuff is a serious work out. But on the return trip home I took a short cut through the woods - to check out the river close up.
Back in time for the sunset...I logged 5 miles on my Cross Country ski tour today, I hope you enjoyed the trip with me. The Pemigewasset River Between Woodstock and Lincoln New Hampshire made for a good photo journey this afternoon.
The Final Frame to my Cross Country ski trip this after Noon...Two hours of quiet solitude and the joy of nature.

If you have an hour or two I recommend you get outside every day...this is the reasons I live in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.
