15 Comments on "Books in Bloom": How about a Hobbit Garden?
I love both those things... books and blooms and yes they both inspire me all the time.
Looks like fun for kids and adults alike. I like garden's with whimsy and color.
My daughter and I were just discussing how we can build a hobbit house like the one we saw at The Oregon Garden a couple of years ago. I love kid-focused gardens!
Hi Tammy: I do, too. This Spring Show was a must for me. They all did a fantastic job, just beautiful and so inspiring.
Hi Cindy: I much prefer whimsical over streamlined - the Hobbit Garden was whimsy and colorful but not kitschy.
Hi Joetta: I bet Bob (Carroll Landscaping Inc) could help you out there, maybe some advice via email?! The set-up of the garden was great for kids and adults alike. A fantastic play house but it also featured a nice patio area surrounded by the stream and flowers - very peaceful. If I had the yard for it I would hire Bob to create some magic for us!
Andrea, as soon as I saw the first picture I thought of hobbits. They did an awesome job on that!
These pictures are so beautiful. Wish the house across the street from my last listing had been just a little bit like it. Instead, it was an eyesore and a complete traffice stopper for all the wrong reasons. There were over 2,000 characters from Star Wars, Walt Disney, Dinosaur Land, Star Trek etc. Thought I would never get the house sold!
How delightful that garden is! I have 3 granddaughters, who are the perfect age to enjoy something like that.
Andrea, love these gardens and I'll bet your girls were just enchanted. I remember reading The Hobbit and the subsequent trilogy in the 70s and these gardens are exactly how I imagined Middle Earth.
Hi Mike: They really do! There were many great gardens but the Hobbit one was our favorite!
Hi Marnie: I got a feeling many listings would attract a ton of interest if our sellers or their neighbors have a Hobbit garden as their yard! ... Oh my over 2000 and your listing sold! Wow! You didn't blog about it by any chance?
Hi Myrl: It was very, very nice. I bet you and your granddaughters would have enjoyed it!
Hi Mona: I did, too, and I wish I had a big enough yard to have some magic created in it! A ton of inspiration - gotta work on getting that new yard! The girls would have loved to take it home as is.
The photos were great Andrea, thank you for sharing them. The hobbit gardens are certainly something to marvel at.
Thank you Captain Wayne, I'm glad you liked them!
That looks so creative and fun! I'd love to explore the Books in Bloom. What a great idea. -Kasey
Andrea, very interesting. I have a large back yard and would love to do something like this in the yard.
I went out and bought seeds today. Mostly vegetables, but a few flowers. Your post has inspired me to play in the dirt a little tomorrow. I hope she'll love that Darla (the tooth fairy's name BTW) is neighbors with Peter and Tinkerbell.
Hi Kasey, it was a lot of fun the gardens were all amazing.. there was an Alice one, too, or Charlie & the Chocolate Factory (it even smelled like cholocate, I'd be in big trouble with this one :-)
Hi Rebecca: We are hoping to move next year and a big back yard is high on our wish list!
Hi again Tammy: Good! I'm itching to get outside and start digging in the dirt, too!
She'll love it! I had no idea that her name is Darla! Thank you!
