New England PatriotsPittsburgh Steelers

The New England Patriots 12-0 take on AFC North Division rival Pittsburgh Steelers 9-3 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass tomorrow at 4:15PM ET. This will be a great matchup as the high powered New England Offense takes on the rough and tough Pittsburgh Steelers number 1 defense.

Pittsburgh's defense has allowed only 155 points which ranks as the least amount of points scored against any one team so far this yr.

The Pats have given up only 209 points which ranks 5th in the NFL. The Pats are number one in Offense with 469 points scored with a point differential of 260 which leads the league by 143 point over the Dallas Cowboys

A lot of writers say Pittsburgh has the best chance of anyone to defeat the Pats. The Steelers are 7-0 at home but are only 2-3 on the road. They have lost to the NY Jets at New York and at Denver to the Broncos by 3 points each and at Arizona by 7points. So, that's 3 losses by a total of 13 points not bad. but they only beat the lowly Miami Dolphins by 3 points in a rain soaked sloppy mud field.

There have been a few great games between the two teams over the years and I believe this one will be no different.  The Pats are going to have to stop the run of Willie Parker and contain Ben Roethlsberger in the pocket and don't let him get outside and run. If he stands in the pocket and has time he will connect with deep threat Hines Ward and burn up the Pats secondary which I feel is a weak link. The Pats have to be careful of giving up the deep ball. They will need to control Parker as long as the Steelers keep the ball the less the Pats will have time to score.

The Pats are going to have to get their ground game going this week to keep the Steelers off balanced. The Steelers have the best defense and rank number 1 against the pass and number 2 against the run. Let's hope the front line of the Pats can protect Brady as the Steelers will be blitzing like they saw Philadelphia and Baltimore do against the Pats.

If you analyze the stats backwards and forwards it will drive you crazy. This should be an all out brawl and after watching the Pats squeak out their last two victories and the Steelers not playing all that great the last 2 out of 3 games and the fact the Steelers are 2-3 on the road the Pats will win this game 34-17.

Not a chance.  Steelers win by at least 10 tomorrow.  The Pats just can't fake it anymore, its over for them.

Jay - I agree with your analysis except the score. New England squeeked by two weeks ago and had lots of help (the men in the stripes) last week to pull off a miracle win. Therefore they need to prove themselves the totally dominant team that everyone thinks they are at the hands of the mighty Pittsburg Steelers - I believe the score will be closer to 48 - 10 Pats.

It should be a great game with the Pats winning. They're going to need to protect against the blitz and have both their running game and passing game in precision order. I think they'll find a way to dust the cobwebs of the last 2 games off and come out playing methodically like they have been.

GO PATS!

Chris and Linda yes the Pats all th eway.

Jay, great name but even though they have been exposed they know how to win and the Steelers are weak on the road.  Can't you say the Jets and Dolphins exposed Pittsburgh?

That's why they play the games. It will be exciting.

And let me go on record as saying that IF somehow you guys do win it will only be because our guys are injured LOL

PS: How many super bowls has Pittsburgh won? Oh ok that was last week :-)

Guess this is the prediction thread....I've said it for about 5 weeks to those who thought I was nuts; so no going back now....the Steelers are the team to expose the Pats. They run it well, the stop the pass....they're not going to play patty-cake with Moss and Welker, Laurence Maroney is no more a tough NFL back than my 100 lb wife, Big Ben is slightly more composed with the game on the line than Feeley and Boller.....they just win the right way. Though they do have an idiot making predictions and guarantees that might have everyone inn New England a little extra pumped...there's a small part of me that's dying for this team to go 16-0 and then lose in the playoffs though.....How about they smoke Pittsburgh tomorrow and then the Steelers exact revenge on a 17-0 Pats team in the AFC Championship; sideline cameras optional.

Jay -- I was at the MNF game in Baltimore -- excellent game!(The Pats missed a couple of plays that made it close -A Moss TD drop along with the TE)

I think the Pats are a bit tired and teams are gunning for them -- personally i would like to see them go undefeated.  Did you see Mercury Morris rhyme on ESPN --it was good.

Good morning Carole, Yes the Steelers have won a couple more SB's more than the Pats. But, you have to remember the majority of those were a long time ago. It will be  a great game and fun to watch on t eedge of our seats for sure.

Jim, the Pats have already been exposed by the Eagles and Ravens. Now the Steelers are going to have to play a lot better than they played against the Jets and Dolphins. The guarantee was nothing as the talk here is he should be saying they can win. The Pats expect to win everytime they step on the field and they expect their opponents to do the same thing.

Aziz, that's right I remember you said you were going. Moss said the wind was tricky and made the ball hard to catch. The Ravens should have won. I had to laugh as Brady said he let up when he heard the whistle blow on the 4th and 1 play when Ryan called time out. Plus he had a little smirk on his face.

Belichick did slip and said his team is tired. The'll suck it up today.

Rick, I hope I am home in time, I will set the recorder on before I head out to show property.

Dave, I think they break out again and wil put up at least 34 points. Pittsburg is not as strong on the road.

I think we can all say we will all have fun following this game and the best team will win.

Go Pats!!!

Jay - I agree that the Pats will come out on top but am not sure the score will reflect a runaway win. The question is can the Pats defense stand up thruout the entire game and will Tom keep the ball on the ground enough to keep the Steelers off balance?

When the chips are down it is the Pats of course but I get concerned if they have to spend a lot of time on the field although now with only 8 minutes left in the 4th quarter I am no longer concerned. Looks like you have called this one quite well Jay. You are the ultimate Patriots analysis person. If you think about a career change I'll give you a letter of recommendation!!!

Wow, Jay - do you know your team or what? I was nervous at half time wondering if this was going to be the day they lost, but they put it to them the second half. It should be a great game when they meet the Cowboys in the superbowl!

When the Pats were up 14-3 I was bummed they let them back in the game to 14-13. Some really bad play calling by the Steelers when it was 4th and 1. The should have just plowed it up the middle. Bad Bad Bad call. Hines Ward had no momentum to turn up field.

The Steelers are still talking trash after this loss, go figure.

George, it sure was sweet and I too couldn't handle another one like last week either. I think the players will step it up for Belichick next week and the Jets will wish they never came to Foxborough. LOL

Another winning game. The Pats defense stuffing the Steelers offense at the 1 yard line and taking over on downs...BEAUTIFUL! Brady takes command and marches them up the field, chewing time off the clock. He is more composed than Rothlisberger.

The Steelers defense seemed to be confused a couple of times as to how to stop the Pats offense. The Pats just walked in a touchdown...where was the #1 defense on that play?

Next week the Jets come to town and we will see some brutality!

GO PATS...ALL THE WAY :)

Hi Joan, thanks the Pats are sure making me look good. LOL

Chris, the Pats are a machine for sure. Deep down I thought it would have been closer. Next week and the week after will be lot's of fun. I can't wait. Plus the Celtics will make the winter go by quick too as they are playing real well.

Dave, Aloha and I get lucky every once in a while. LOL

Bill, yeah I was a little surprised but the way they are atttacking the opposing defenses they seem to be on the ball. Even without a strong ground game they are using Wes Welker like a running back.

Brian, I am a sports fanatic and I really enjoy it. Thanks for commenting.

Moni, yeah it is isn't it. LOL

Being a Texan, (that's the State of Texas, not the sports team), I smiled when the Dallas Cowboys won their game on Thanksgiving Day 2007.  Of those two teams, here's (an uneducated) cheer for the Patriots!  My brother tells me they are pretty good.

But why now? Didn't this guy intercept David Garrard last week? I didn't see the whole game- maybe that was the only good thing he did. But to be the only guy to really pick off Garard all year is something special (his other INT bounced off his receiver into the air and was snagged). Maybe they're tired of him talking more than playing.

I thought he was only starting because of an inury anyway?

You hear many comparisons with QB from days of old and the young guns today. I really see a lot of the same qualities with Brady and Montana. Both always seem so claim in the pocket and both throw a very catch able ball.

For my money, Brady is hands-down the better of the two. But then again, I'm in the camp that ranks Montana among some of the most overrated athletes ever.

Jim, looking forward to reading it. I hope it ain't Bradshaw.

Back when I was real young YA Tittle was another QB I loved to watch along with Johnny Unitas, Roman Gabriel, Roger Staubach, and Ken Stabler. Those were great yrs. I am sure I am missing a few.
