One day....  maybe if I could pick the person.  I think it would be someone famous that performs.  A gal like Madonna or Gwen Stefani - I've always been fascinated by what its got to feel like being on stage and having that many people adore and just go insane over your every breath.

Wouldn't want it but for one day!!  Maybe only a couple of hours.   Oh maybe be Oprah that could be cool too I think.

Than I step back into my shoes very willingly.   Did I mention I LOVE the pink hair!!!!!  Hope all is well.

Hi Lizette--For just a moment, I thought about trading two teenaged boys, an old dog and one husband buried under a foot of snow for Chanel and cookie begging in KY. Hmmm....No arguing and teen angst, No snow....Nope! I love my crazy life. Love the post as it really makes you stop an think for a minute about what is really important to you.

Dez - OMG!!!!! I hadn't even thought about Madonna or Oprah! I would absolutely flip out if I could be one of them for 24 hours. I LOVE my pink hair(now green for Christmas) too!!! Things are good(or at least calm)...Thanks!

Hi Lizette, NO I can't even walk in my shoes for 24 hours so I don't think I want to walk in someone elses.....really

I have always tried to see life from anothers perspective, but I'm not really sure I would survive in someone else's shoes.  But nonetheless, it is always prudent to try to understand what makes someone do the things they do, think the way they think and act the way they act.  It may not be in line with the way I/we/you were raised, but it is the life outline that has formed that person.

Having worked in some pretty aggressive occupations in my life, if I couldn't think like someone else I may well have been dead long ago.  Our lives are complex - the relationships, the influences, successes, failures, do-overs, fears, beliefs.  It's always best not to judge too quickly - to remove emotion from our thinking for just a minute - and to try to understand the driving force behind another person's actions and words.

Great post, Lizette.  Thanks for providing a great source for stirring the mind on a rainy Sunday morning.

PS - you can send Chanel up here.  We buy 'cookies' in 10 pound bags.  LOL 

Kay - Some days I feel like that too! Especially after showing 25 houses. 

Carol - I can sure understand that! It's interesting when we meet new poeple how we have to mirror them. To see inside them to discover what kind of home they would be comfortable in. We had the rain yesterday...all day. Chanel would be right up there if you had that many cookies! She has gone crazy over the ones I baked for her the other night. 

I like being ME...although I don't like some things about me at times....ME is the best person, inside and out.  I love my hubby, my children, and yes even my dogs (who wake me up before I want to get out of bed!   I cannot imagine being anyone else but ME nor do I even want to try it.  God made ME who I am...ME!

Mary - I'm like that too. I love being ME. Or at least on most days. I sure would like to sleep in for at least an hour in the mornings! How can we retrain these dogs? I'm not in charge over here! LOL

You ar eright on, at this time of year there are many more who believe that we should do this in order to really know one another....I say do it and maybe, just maybe everyone will keep it going all year round.

Only if I could put my life on hold for that 24 hours.  Could you imagine how messed up everything would be when you got back if, say, Paris Hilton took YOUR place for a day while you were her?

Lizette-I'm happy just walking in my shoes and being grateful that God has given me just what I have.  I think it's all about the journey and where we are going in our lives that makes it exciting.  Although I do think about the ones, that are struggling in their lives I think, I don't want to walk in their shoes and don't feel that mine would be better for them, however if I can some how, in some way make a difference I will find that way.  Oh my goodness, you have me going on here.  Thank you for such a mind provoking post my friend.

Even though I think I am happy in my shoes most of the time, I think it would be interesting to see that even those who seem completely happy and who seem to have all the answers all the time and especially not being a foreigner for one business day (9-5) would be interesting. I would probably learn a lot.

Or even living somebody's life who has more difficulties, struggles, and who still feels grateful, optimistic and who makes time for his family and friends, someone who makes time for his spiritual life,  and says Thank You at the end of the day, would be a great learning experience.

We take so many things for granted ...

But something more realistic would be to adopt a dog for one week and see if I am really ready to have a dog again.

Lizette, Wow, interesting question....and I don't think I would want to, not even for 24 hours.  I too like being just Me and think many of these other people we see who seem to have it all don't really have that much---or don't appreciate what they have.  Wouldn't THAT be a shame?

Dan- I don't always want to me me some days either! Well...most of the time I do want to be me.

Rich - There's no telling how bad Paris could mess up your life in one day. She might be late for every appointment.

Nestor- I think a dog on loan for a week might be easier than trading lives for 24 hours. Make sure it isn't a puppy. They take lots of time and all night too.

Carole- You are sooo right! Being YOU is perfect. Maybe I'll just trade with you.  

Are we really that different?    At soul level,  I would say no.    On the surface, certainly.    While we are all unique in many ways,  most of us have similar core values and needs.   From the comments above it sounds like we are all happy to be US.    Me included!    

Lizette, I'd swap with you. Just for a while. :o) (Nestor, you can foster a dog for a week as a trial. Just in case you really did want to know!)

Very good post and a very interesting question. I like who I am and I like were I am in my life so I would not want to trade. But I do think it would be an interesting experience to trade with someone less fortunate than ourselves, just to see, feel and realize how hard some people really do have it. I bet our lives would be really great when we came back to them!!

Connie - I'm so glad we aren't all alike! That would take all the mystery out of finding out about someone.

Lizette, My first thought would to be someone like a famous ice skater or singer, but the thought came to me that if I spent a day in the shoes of someone who could not afford shoes or that had to walk a mile for drinking water, I would be forever joyful and jubilant about all my blessings big and small!
