Motivational Monday: Opportunities of the new Facebook Fan Page!

For this motivational Monday I have chosen a quote from Stephen Covey. He said "Effective people are not problem-minded; they're opportunity minded. They feed opportunities and starve problems."

I felt this quote was fitting as my post last week: Changes to Facebook Fan Pages brought up a few problems users might face when the changes take effect. The main problem users have talked about is that you will no longer have a default landing page or welcome page...visitors will land on your Facebook fan page wall.

Taking a cue from Stephen Covey I have thought of some opportunities with the changes to Facebook fan pages. With the new timeline you have a rather large cover photo that goes across the top of your fan page. This is the first thing visitors will see when they come to your page. Use this as a spot for branding your business or put a picture of a new listing.

Your page timeline is another spot of opportunity. Use this area to post information on new listings or open houses that you are having. By clicking on the star you can make it more prominent showing how important it is. You can also pin it to the top of your page so people will see it.

I am continuing to take advantage of these new opportunities on my Facebook Fan Page for Straessle Marketing Solutions. Become a FAN of my Facebook fan page and I will return the favor. Check back as I will continue to update everyone on changes to Facebook!

Great way to look at it Elizabeth!  I actually like the new pages.  My favorite part is the highlighting of 4 featured tabs at the top under the cover photo.  I like that (with the exception of the photo tab) we can choose which ones show up on that row.  I switched mine to tabs I set up for  "Home Value Report," "Search Sold Homes," and "Watch Our Videos."

I think we stand a better chance of people using those than the side tabs in the old pages.

Thanks Elizabeth!  I Think you wrote the 10th article I've read on this today.   Everyone has a little different take on how to make the most of it.  Thanks for your input.

Hi Kristen- Great idea for using the tabs! I agree...I think they will be easier for people to see now.

I see you work in the Lewiston area. I have family that lives in Lewiston and Lisbon Maine! My parents are both from the area. Stay warm!

Megan- I actually had written an article on the changes last week and when I saw this quote felt it was a good way to refer back to my previous post. For some reason the topic seems to be more popular today then last week.

Cool!  Let me know if you ever want to move to the area.  Texas to Maine, could be fun!

Thanks Kristen, I sure will let you know. For now I go where the USMC sends my husband. We just moved from SC to TX in July so hopefully we will be here for another 2.5 years. Who knows where we will go next!

Great ideas, was wondering how I was going to use the new timeline. Thats a great start. havent switched to it yet though. I do have all my blogs automatically posting to it, so thats pretty neat. Keeps it "active" that way.

David having your blogs automatically going to your facebook page is a great idea. I have mine set up that way as well. It saves you time for it to be automatic! I am sure there will be more ideas for how to use the new timeline as it goes live. I am almost done updating mine and hopefully will launch it tomorrow and post it as an example.
