The best reason to purchase a HUD home are that they are sold through a bidding process and as long as they receive at least two bids, the highest bid is always accepted. This means that many HUD homes sell for far less then they would if they were not listed as a HUD home. 

HUD also pays the real estate agent's commission from your bid and they evenpay the closing costs up to 5% of your winning bid.
