I know that i have talked about this before but folks seem to forget to have there sump pump's inspected once a year to make sure it still works. The worst time to find out is after your home is under water.

Take the time to inspect or have someone check it out for you.

Jamie I saw a lender owned home that had no power. If the sump pump had been working there would not have been mold 4 feet up the finished basement walls.

James,

Great point, sump pumps come with a back up generator for when the powers out.

It's not a bad thing to add for saftey.

I inspected a home today and the power had been turned off because the home was empty.

It has been raining here for a couple of days & the sump pit is full of water and is now about to run out of the pit & into a nice finished basement.

It will take 2 days before the electric company can restore the power to the house.

It's better to be proactive instead of reactive.
