Often times water well maitenance is overlooked Next week March 11 - 17th is National Groundwater Awareness Week so over the next week we will go over all the important aspects of Ground Water Awareness.

One of the top issues we come across is the consumers lack of education on water quality testing scheduals or recomendations over the lifespan of their water system.

When was the last time you had your water analyzed?

Harmful contaminentsmay be lurking in your drinking water. You water is in your hands. It is recommended by the NHDES and the MASS DEP to have your water analyzed at least every 3-5 years. It is also recommended to preform a yearly bacteria/ nitrate test. Testing post servicing for bacteria is also always recommended.

Why should I test ?

First and Foremost WHY NOT???? We spend all this time picking organic veggies, researching what cleaners we use and researching buying hybrid cars ect. and yet when it comes to one of the most basic fundementals  we always seem to overlook our water supplies.

Wouldn't you like to know what you and your family are consuming in terms of water quality?

We highly recommend testing you water regularly if you have someone who is pregnant or nursing , small children or the elderly in your home.

What can change my water Quality?

The following are some of the sources of water contamination; naturally occuring deposits in the bedrock, retired landfills, septic systems, waste water treatment facilities, lawn chemicals, underground fuel/oil storage tanks, agricultural land, constructions sites, blasting ect.

What types of water tests are available?

Bacteria/ Nitrate testing ( yearly)

Basic total coliform, e.coli bacteria, calcium, copper, iron, manganese, sodium, chloride, Hardness, Nitrites, nitrates, PH ( every three to 5 years)

General total coliform, e.coli bacteria, calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, sodium, alkilinity, ammonia, chloride, chlorine, color, conductivity, hardness, nitrate, nitrite, ph, sulfate, turbitity, odor/ sediment ( every three to 5 years)

Comprehensive  total coliform, e.coli bacteria, arsenic, calcium, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, alkilinity, ammonia, color, conductivity, chlorine, chloride, flouride, hardness, nitrate, nitrite, odor and sediment, ph, sulfate, turbidity (every three to 5 years)

Extensive total coliform, e.coli bacteria, arsenic, calcium, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, alkilinity, ammonia, color, conductivity, chlorine, chloride, flouride, hardness, nitrate, nitrite, odor and sediment, ph, sulfate, turbidity in addition it also tests for the volatile organic scan : p-dichlorobenzene, 0 -dichlorobenzene, styrene, benzene, trichloroethylene, trans-1, 2 Dichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, Carbon tetracholoride, 1,1,1-Trichloroethane, cis -1, 2 Dichloroethylene, toluene, 1,1- Dichloroethylene, vinyl chloride, 1,2- Dichloropropane, xylenes, 1,2- dichloroethane, monochlorobenzene, ethylbenzene+ Radon in the water  (every  10 years)

Another often overlooked task is a Maitenance Inspection

A Preventative Maintenance Well Efficiency Audit is as easy as

What many well owners don't know is that by correcting well issues early on you are able to avoid unnecessary headaches and expenses in the future. Did you know that if your pressure tank is unbalanced or if your pump motor is showing grounds it could not only result in a pretty distinctive rise in your household energy consumption, but also shorten the lifespan of your pumping system? This Audit will not only show any energy loss and performance issues with your systems but give you a little piece of mind knowing your system is functioning at its PEAK performance!
