Saturday was a busy day at the Iron Horse in Ormond Beach

Besides having Big Engine rocking a great crowd

And part two of Pee Wee's Poker Run (the raffle)

There was also a small presentation ceremony!

Pam Hobbs, Development Officer for The Children's Advocacy Center was on hand to personally thank both Pee Wee and Rock Hartley for their work to put on a Toy Run that benefited the Children's Advocacy Center's of Volusia and Flagler Counties on December 1 of this year.

Pictured Left to Right ~ Pee Wee's Son in Law, CJ, Pam Hobbs, Rock Hartley Pee Wee and Radio Bob Barry

Both men were given a Certificate of Appreciation for their services and support along with a Letter of Gratitude from the Center.

I was able to obtain a copy of both Pee Wee's & Rock Hartley's certificates via email when I told them I wanted to do this post so I could share them with all of you.

Pee Wee's came directly from Pam that is why there is no signature, I don't think Pee Wee has a scanner.

A lot of folks don't understand why people like Rock, Pee Wee and myself (along with many, many others) do things like this.

Honestly, it isn't for the awards or certificates

It is for smiles we will never see

It is for the thank you we will probably never get

That is how we like it though.

We are not in it for the glory

We do it for one simple reason...

Because We Can

I've also uploaded the letter that came with the certificate so you can see how the Center will distribute the toys and gifts that were collected on December 1st.

Lysa, this is great. I have been on a non-profit board in Ann Arbor for 8 years called Student Advocacy Center. Great job.

Awesome Lysa...you are a real credit to your community. They are lucky to have you.

I must admit I started volunteering for the non-profit I represent (www.picnh.org) about 5 years ago now....not just to give back but to make business contacts. Well I'm now the Board Chair, and haven't made any business contacts....but the rewards have been un-measurable!

Hey BB! Thank you for your support! We all appreciate it :)

Carole, Your comment made me stop and think. I don't know that anyone actually taught me, if they did I don't remember. I wonder if it is something we are self taught? At any rate, thank you :)

Lysa- The gift of giving your time yields priceless rewards, and can never be repaid! Great job! It is awesome what you do, making sure that kids who would have received little or nothing, receive a toy.

That is wonderful...you know if it only helps one deserving kid it is worth it.  I volunteer all the time and have no idea how it helps or even who it helps most of the time.  Why do I do it??? Because it's the right thing to do.

I am a cancer awareness advocate because everyone know someone that has had cancer and I most likely I will have it some time in my life...pay it forward!!!

Carol, You're too funny! I like to let folks know about the people I consider unsung heros. So many folks don't know about the good the biker community does and this is the perfect way to let them know! Thanks!

Midori! Thanks so much from all of us for your support! I'll share the crown :)

Bob, Then you know exactly why we do it. We also are involved with a huge annual event in April to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We put a lot of energy and time into and we love every minute of it. Thank you for all you do!!

Tom, Thank you, the feeling is very mutual!

Lysa, it's people like you that make this world a better place.  If every single one of us would do a good deed without expecting anything in return, we would have no worries and no malice.  Congratulations and YOU ROCK!!!

Lysa, I don't know how you find the time to help out with so many worthwhile causes but I am so glad you do!  Just knowing that you make a difference in only one person's life would make it worthwhile, but you touch so many.  I am honored to know you =)

Rick and Ines! Wouldn't it be great if the world worked like that? Thanks so much!

Maggie, Sometimes I don't know either, but from what I know about you, we're not all that different and you have children your raising. The honor goes both ways girlfriend!
