This morning I decided to go to Pogo.com and play my usual games.  I am a Club Pogo member so I earn badges which give me the opportunity to play games I might not have played otherwise.  What the badges mean is each week two games are selected by Pogo and one is selected by me to complete in seven days.  If I complete the game, I earn a badge.  I've been playing on pogo for so long, I have no idea how many badges I have and don't really care...it's just fun to learn new games.

One of the badges this week is Pogo Bowl.  In real life, I used to go bowling all the time and was rather good at it.  Funny thing, on Pogo, I don't score any better than I did in real life.....I still have trouble reaching 200.  But that is beside the point.  The point of this blog is to see what all sorts of combinations of letters mean.  Pogo Bowl is a rather slow game so the participants 'chat'.  I was reading what they were saying this morning and asked them what some of the letters meant.  Below is a partial list of what I found out.  I knew a few of them.  Please feel free to add more so I can 'talk to talk' of chat.

  • wtg = way to go
  • ty = thank you
  • yw = you're welcome
  • u2 = you too
  • hagd = have a good day
  • yqw = you're quite welcome
  • gg = good game (or good girl)
  • lol = laugh out loud (or look oh look)
  • np = no problem
  • gf = girlfriend

What can YOU add to this list?  I'm not a young person but I want to act like one....that's what is fun on Active Rain and the Internet....I can be ANY age I want to......      HAGD!

Hi Kay! I can help with some specific to Pogo Bowl & some just on Pogo in general. NS (Nice Strike), NT (Nice Turkey if you happen to have 3 strikes) BRB (Be Right Back) HB (Hurry Back) WB (Welcome Back); on Lottso there is also TY4C (thank you for charity) and a bunch more that are game specific depending on the game.

Kay - I can't say I have ever heard of Pogo or play online games at all. However, the instant messaging has been on my screen a time or two (yahoo & Msn messenger) and often times some surprise me with a new acronym that I don't know. Here is a website dictionary if you will that you might surprise your chat to chat buddies. Click Here   HAGD & TTYL

Hi Candace, Thanks for the link.  Yes instant messaging and text messaging on cell phones probably all use the same acronyms.

Kay - There are so many abbreviations out there it seems like they are never-ending.  It is amazing how teenagers immediately know what they mean and we are left guessing!  What a generation gap!

Good gracious.  I just read Cancace's link.  It would have to be a REAL slow game.  I can see having to go back every time someone typed LSHTTARD or HWISTKT to figure out what it mean. I must be getting old. haha
