Invisible Children

Most of us are using facebook to stay in touch with friends, family, and clients. We see that the world has shifted into a new way of communicating and we are adapting. I remember my parents staying up until 2am so that they could call our relatives in Ireland at 8am their time - on a rotary dial phone. Today, I see my cousins on facebook nearly every day. We can Skype and fb message and email and Tweet in real time. We truly live in an age of miracles and wonder.

So, what are we doing with this miraculous technology? It's wonderful to be able to share important life moments with family and friends who live thousands of miles away. We're learning new ways to use social media in our businesses. It seems like every day there's a new thing or gimmick that you can learn or buy to attract clients to your business. There are people who actually make their living now 'doing' social media. Is that it? Is that all social media can do for the world? Share pictures of the new grand-baby, advertise the latest gadget, and play games with people in China?

Here's an idea that takes social media to the next level. It's not cute but it's beautiful. It won't make you any money but it will make you richer - richer as in more meaningful and significant. This is the future. This is what facebook can do. 250 MILLION facebook users can make a difference.

 
The video is long but everyone needs to take the time to watch it. This is important. Joseph Kony abducted 30,000 children over the last 20 years. He makes the girls into sex slaves and forces the boys to mutilate and kill. The International Criminal Court placed Joseph Kony on the top of the list of criminals due to the perversity and volume of his crimes against humanity. Unfortunately, Joseph Kony's crimes do not impact anyone of financial importance in the world. If people ignore him, he will continue his atrocities; if people express their outrage at his actions, the powers that be will take action. Use social media to make a positive change in the world.

'All that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing.'  Be good. Watch the video; share it with everyone. Communicate your desire to have this monster man stopped. Contact one of the celebrities or lawmakers on the website and tell them you want this man arrested. Stand up for Invisible Children. Be more than an ethical business person; be an ethical human being.
