cranes roost parkAltamonte Springs is located in the geographic heart of Central Florida in Seminole County straddling I-4 (a major thoroughfare reaching from Tampa, on Florida's West Coast to Daytona Beach on its East Coast) and State Road 436.  Altamonte Springs is just minutes away from downtown Orlando, the Orlando Sanford Airport, Orlando International Airport and the major theme attractions.

The first settlers of Altamonte Springs, which is Spanish for ‘high hill,' were a group of businessmen who intended to create a tourist haven at Snow Junction, as it was then called.  It has evolved into a residential community with its strength lying in its many retail and office centers.

Uptown Altamonte at Cranes Roost ParkYou can enjoy a wide range of shopping available to you in Altamonte Springs including the Altamonte Mall, one of the larger shopping malls in Central Florida, or the new Uptown Altamonte, a mixed-use development which abuts the Altamonte Mall and Cranes Roost Park where people can live, work, play and enjoy the outdoors.

There are many activities at Uptown Altamonte and Cranes Roost Park, with the Eddie Rose Amphitheater for the whole family including the Fourth of July celebration, Red, Hot & Boom which has an attendance of approximately 100,000 people.  There is almost always something going on a weekly basis including Jazz concerts and other musical attractions, Karaoke nights, comedy, and Streetmosphere, the Russian born members of CirqueMosphere, an artistic troupe of performers.

Eddie Rose Amphitheater at Cranes Roost ParkThe park system in Altamonte Springs offers so much including Lake Lotus Nature Park, Eastmonte Park, Westmonte Park with its outdoor Therapeutic Pool, and Merrill Park to name just a few.

Altamonte Springs is a great place to live, work & play!

Marc,

Great pictures and it sounds like a blast to visit.  I think, however, my favorite part is that there is NO SNOW and NO ICE!!!!!!  Greetings from Boston.

Martin - Love to see when it's coming down and after it's blanketed the area, but then it's just dreck (sic)!  Absolutely beautiful here.  Been in the low to mid 80's during the day and right now (9pm) about low 70's.  I have the house open.  But yes it's a great place to visit and live!

Marc- great description of Altamonte Springs. Can you do anything about the traffic?

Mark - I really don't have an issue with the traffic here.  The only time I have an issue is this time of year.  I make sure that I stay away from the mall, but there are many ways around some of it.  And, seriously, I think you have major issues with 192 in Kissimmee.

Marc, Great pics!. When I used to travel the state for business (seems like another life time ago) I used to go to the Bubble Room.  Wasn't that in Altamonte Springs?

Matt - The Bubble Room was a great place.  They closed the one in Maitland down many years ago.  I think that one on Captiva Island is still open.

Marc, It was a great place I know the one in captive had a lot of damage with the hurricanes. What a great place it was though.  I am sad to hear that it is gone.  I took many many a ladies to that place...:-)

Matt - That just bummed me out!  As cool as the one in Maitland was, the one in Captiva was just so neat!  I didn't even think about it with the hurricanes.  Haven't been out that way in a few years & always loved it.  Great place, great food, etc!  Remember that freakin' humongous red velvet cake?

Marc ~ Great information about your area.  I re-read it three times as we are being hit by rain, sleet and snow today and I could use some Florida sunshine about now!
