The year is almost over. Hard to believe I am saying that. What is in store for us in the North Georgia Mountains for 2008. The crystal is cloudy but I think there are some interesting trends. Let's start with the gated communities.
Big Canoe is in my opinion the best overall mountain community in North Georgia. It is gated and about 10,000 acres. It has more amenities than you can imagine. Another great thing is all the green space. You can see bear, play golf, watch deer, play tennis, swim in one of 3 pools or fish in one of the great lakes in the community. The community is also only about 50 miles from the Northern fringes of Atlanta. With elevations up to 3300 feet Big Canoe is a truly unique community. 2008 will be a year of discovery for Big Canoe. With all the baby boomer's looking for property and seeing some of the high costs in other mountain area Big Canoe will be more and more on everyones list.
Benttree Very similar to Big Canoe but a little less expensive. Benttree also boasts an equestrian center. The outlook here I believe will be very similar to Big Canoe.
Talking Rock Creek Resorts and Coosawattee River Resort are very different gated communities. They are mountain heavy and amenity light. If you are looking to get away from it all these communities are where you want to look. With lot prices less than half of Big Canoe and 40 percent under Benttree These 2 resorts are a great choice for the budget minded.
The non gated communities of Ellijay, Dahlonega, Jasper, offer a lot of open land at good prices for many. Our mountains also are building up services so the wilderness experience comes with a dash of Walmart.
All in all the North Georgia Mountains are a destination to seriously consider if you are looking for mountain living at great prices. So I think our mountain communities will be strong in 2008. 2007 has given all the fence sitters one more chance to get in while the getting is good.
