The Kubler Ross Stages of Grief Applied to Real Estate?

The grieving stages are covered in the acronym DABDA.

Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, acceptance.

They are outlined at  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kübler-Ross_model.

There are grieving processes in Real Estate.

Families are moving, selling, leaving.

But there are also new Spring Beginnings, too.

Moving in, Buying, Making NEW friends and enjoying new surroundings.

That is the acceptance part. And sometimes that can become a HAPPY thing.

Cheryl - nice post! Sometimes the bargaining part takes a bit longer it seems when families move; I have a friend who moved to Texas about 5+ years ago, and she still hasn't really accepted it!

Cheryl -  I have had clients that moved to the Q and just couldn't / wouldn't accept the change.  Then I've had others that say they'll never leave and wonder what took them so long to get here.  I think it's a mind set we either think of our moves as a positive or negative.

I have a seller/buyer right now who can't decide which phase she is in! One day, complete acceptance - the next, denial again. But we are still in the middle of the process so hopefully when all is said and done she will fully accept it. :)
