The reasons for moving, relocating, investing in Maine real estate boils down to a few we hear over and over as a REALTOR in the Pine Tree State.

People are not happy where they live now and think a new location, a new mate and starting over will be the cure.  Will fix everything.

Cross The Big Green Bridge In To Maine Video

But sometimes it is like getting off one conveyor belt and climbing on a faster one at the baggage carousel. Life can be not so much different or worse because you need to stop. Get off one spinning canvas walkway and park it. Sit, reflect, consider how you spend your time. What are your priorities. What is important and drives your life.

I am rereading the Rick Warren Purpose Driven Life 40 day series again. Each time new pearls of wisdom are obtained.  Busyness is one of the biggest obstacles to loving life and the people in. Relationships are the most important thing. But often time to maintain, nurture and expand them deeper to weather storms in life is just not invested. Or robbed for overbooked kids schedules, two jobs to have more material things or chip away at mountains of debt.

Self medication. Money to buy happiness won't work. Three high ball drinks and a couple more plus a night cap before calling it a day won't either.

Racing through one after another relationship with a NASCAR gas and tire change pit stop quickness. Looking for one mate that like the porridge is just right is one of the leading causes I hear as a Maine real estate broker. For the desire to move to Maine.

Oh sure over crowding, high priced property outside of Maine and being able to buy a lot of property for a little money is the grand slam number one. But a close second is what is missing in the person's life. What they can not obtain and hold out hope Maine will be the back drop they need to get it right.

Relationships are always worth restoring.

Don't run away. We are supposed to make an all out effort to restore them. But conflict resolution is a serious, touch and go operation. In our hurry up go faster, right now drive through society that is picking up speed, the temptation to discard relationships is the easy way. We rationalize that the one at the moment we are with has the bulk of responsibility to repair broken relationships. When the change needed comes from both sides to adjust, realign, to build a stronger healthier relationship. But not my fault situations happen in more than car insurance accidents.

So the Maine real estate caller will say they are trying to get away from the witch or warlock they were married to, their ex, and seek Maine as a place to start over.

I always wonder why did you marry them if they were so bad or just not compatible? But instead I ask how much Maine land are you after to build that new vacation home with your new boyfriend or girlfriend. What is your price range, have you finished your divorce or have to sell your home on that end first? I can help you get a bridge loan to buy the Maine home here until the one there sells. That kind of stuff.

But starting over, moving to a lower crime, less populated state like Maine is an attraction. Reminded last week by a caller who asked me if I know where Hell is. Besides the fiery pit we all want to avoid like the plague, he shared I'll tell you where Hell is. It's right here on Earth. It's other people.  So we hear often I want to buy a small Maine farm, dead end road, no neighbors in sight. Because the Maine real estate buyers has had it up to his eyeballs with drama from neighbors, their barking dogs, their annoying kids. And home owner association regulations, burdensome taxes and the stress strain of living too jammed in close together.

andrew mooers me realtorSo Dr Phil wearing the blue and gold REALTOR R is in. We start by listening, but hear common themes of what is causing the desire for the move, relocation, investment in Maine property.

Often the Maine real estate buyer is simply seeking a place for solitude, peace and to enjoy life alone. Not bothering any one else, or them hassling you kind of dynamic. Maine is ideal for that.

But you gotta hope in addition to the move to Maine, change up of the setting, that inside work is being done to reprioritize the clipboard list of life goals.

To slow down, consider where they should be spending their time for a richer, happier, healtier life.

Maine, slow down, get here quick as you can. Watch our Maine real estate videos

Andy, We're overdue for a trip to Maine.  Haven't made it the last two summers, loved hanging out at the harbor and consuming the "bugs" :)

I adore the inspiration in the post Andy. All that you have said is so true - and I love the Maine video. The Hurry Up and Go Faster lifestyle does leave a lot of wreaked souls in its wake. Also, the looking for a band-aid ( new person) to fix what's wrong inside "never" works.

Let's hope with a new home, and new beginnings comes a commitment to fix what's broken inside first.

L and B... Maine, she misses you. Come for a day, stay a lifetime.

Debb.... Inside job is so right. Otherwise you can fix the symptoms not the cause.

What an introspective post. I always meant to read the book. Bought it, then purchased it again as a Kindle, then received it as a gift. I think it is  about time to read it.
