Parallel 45 Wine Bar, You Will Be Missed

Parallel 45 Wine BarI can't remember the year Parallel 45 opened, but I do know that I was excited to see a wine bar being added as a place to go at Tualatin Commons on the Lake.

I've been enjoying visiting with friends here since they opened..whether enjoying the warm ambiance during the winters inside, or sitting outside soaking up the sun by the lake in the summer.

I have a couple of friends..all of us agents that shared an office at one time and have gone in different directions. We enjoyed catching up over some delicious wine and eats at Parallel 45, so imagine our surprise when we were working out our schedules to get together last week and recieved an e-mail (on their mailing list) telling us they were closing. What???? Closing ...and in a week? We had to now find a new place to go, so we ended up at Split in Bridgeport Village. Although Split was fine....it just wasn't Parallel 45..(Whine)

I don't know the reasons, but it did appear that they were thriving...I mean, even on a Wednesday night in the winter all the booths and chairs would be full at 6PM. The message from the owner Steve was a bit cryptic..moving...closing? Whatever the reason, I wish them all the best and hope they do open up somewhere else in the future.

Parallel 45 Wine Bar, You will be missed.....you already are.

It always stinks to lose a great place that provided so many good times and memories.

Good morning, Cindy....it's always difficult to see a local business close shop, especially if it's a favorite....maybe another will start up.

Hi Barbara, It is..and this one was right in the hub of Tualatin and enjoyed by many. I have no doubt that another will start up in it's place since the location is fantastic and it already has a following of people like me that have been used to going there. I guess time will tell on that one..or if he decides to open in another location.

The message makes me think there was a disagreement about re upping a lease. The menu of the Split will work for for next time I am in your area!

Hi Rob, I heard that as well about the lease, so who knows. Bummer if the owner decided to raise it high to push out local business owners that have been there for years. Split would work great for next time you're up this way!

Oh, that's too bad. Maybe they won't be far away. His message doesn't sound like he's closing up shop for good.

Hi Jill, I hope so too. I have heard that it was a mix of a personal and business decision...and that they are planning on opening up again..when and where..well who knows. I hope I get an e-mail from them that gives me good news in the next year.

I agree Jill, I never really loved this trend of faceless chains and lack of local flavor going on these days. I always like little places with unique auras so to speak.I hope this begins a new chapter for your social life. :)

My blog might cheer you up I hpoe. Stop by... :)

Love and light,

Laura

Hi Laura, Supporting the local businesses is just a good thing and like you said, they lack the uniqueness and local flare and flavor that I love. I just went over and left a comment on your post...as well as David's post. Thank you. Tomorrow I will wake with not only Davids post in mind, but your generous nature in leading me to it.

That's sad Cindy!  I hate to see small businesses fail ;(  Grants Pass just got a quaint wine bar that opened up a few months ago... it's doing great so far... we really needed something like that!

Hi Mel, love to hear about your local wine bar doing well! I'm hoping it was more of a personal choice than the business not doing well. Of course we never know that actual numbers, but it did seem that it was pretty busy in the evenings to the point of having to wait for a table or place to sit on some nights..so who knows.
