I blogged about the New Hampshire edition of Home Buyers and Sellers profile just released by the National Association Of REALTORS®.
I found the regional information very interesting especially when it comes to talking with the home seller regarding your advertising dollars.
Then Kaushik Sirkar commented on my blog about seeing what the national stats looked like...so I thought why not look them up.

New Hampshire's findings are below as I posted previous... but note the difference especially in the Buyers who found the home they purchased on the Internet first.

NH had 47% of the buyers find the home on the Net while the National average is 24%. What a big difference!

Apparently the REALTOR® Professional plays a much more significant role in helping the consumer find the home they ultimately purchased nationally than in NH...go figure???

Also of interest was that the National average on advertising was higher as was buying directly form a builder and their agent.

28% of the buyers found the home they bought from a REALTOR® Professional.
47% found the home they bought from the Internet.
12% found the home they bought from a yard sign.
AND get this 2% from print newspaper advertisement.
6% from a friend, relative or neighbor.
3% directly from the sellers.
1% from the home builder or their agent.
1% from a home book or magazine.

National results are as follows

36% of the buyers found the home they bought from a REALTOR® Professional.
24% found the home they bought from the Internet.
15% found the home they bought from a yard sign.
AND a whopping 5% from print newspaper advertisement.
8% from a friend, relative or neighbor.
3% directly from the sellers.
8% from the home builder or their agent.
1% from a home book or magazine.

Interesting stuff to say the least.

We know that you don't care what we know ....until you know that we care!

Hey Moni, good reading! I think NH is known as a high tech area no? At least that was my impression. Wonder if that plays a part in the stats. The stats look pretty good to me! I know the Prez of our Company had a target marketing class and I attended and the figures Nationally look pretty close to what was posted for our area in the class. Very interesting about print ads. Course in general, I now even read my Washington Post on line every day so......  Live Free or Die :=)

Quite interesting... Some of those stats are hard to really understand, but it is rally amazing how they differ from state to national. :)

Carole NH is on the border of Massachusetts which is a very high tech state. Our buyers are mostly from Mass.

Thanks Jay

Carole...Funny I never really thought of us as being High Tech but Jay just reminded me about being next Massachusetts...so we must be!  Live Free or Die...thats the New Hampshire way. Opps looks like Jay is using my ID again!!  LOL!!!

Mariana...I was surprised about the difference myself.  But what really got me was the 15 miles away from the previous residence  thing!

New Hampshire does have a high-tech belt in it - the Seacoast area, Portsmouth & surrounding towns, is known as the Silicon Valley of the east coast.  Our nickname is the "E-Coast".   And combine that with being right next door to all that Massachusetts has going, and we are pretty darn high-tech, etc.

O M G  and both Moni and Jay were SO polite and nice to me.  They ahem, aren't IN NH. O M G.  Ya know, you all have your own personalities and I could never mix you up as people, but I have to admit, it is sometimes hard to remember where each of you are! LOL  I'm srry!

I'm chuckling trying to picture Moni and Jay reading my 'NH has a high tech area' comment and saying 'who the heck cares'ROFL

Ok, I changed my mind, I will leave the comments and try to collect myself lol.  I'm going into the NH Link now to see the rest of the information...AGAIN LMAO

We have pockets of streets here - say 10 street radius in two different areas; and people basically want to stay there; each is a modest neighborhood, but because family and friends grew up and stay there, even when the kids grow and want to buy a home, they want to stay right there. The 15 mile thing works when people leave Cleveland and go to the burbs.

Moni, thanks for trying to get me out of that but lolol

Thanks for the reminder to me to go ahead and order that report from NAR.  Plenty of good blogging material there for me!

8:53pm • #11
This is not surprising - and many of the buyers that used the internet looked for financing on the internet before looking for a home via the internet

1% from a home book or magazine.

This is the part I was completely shocked by, I would have sworn it was at least 5%. Or, maybe I should say hoped.
