Her family sells greeting cards, prints, plates, aprons, quilts, dolls and more, all in a sentimental, rustic, which are still a refined style resembling that of Beatrix Potter. For seventy years Tasha Tudor's illustrations elicited wide admiration, the New York Times in 1941 said that Tasha Tudor's pictures, have the same fragile beauty of early Spring evenings. Her drawings, a specially the early ones, often illustrated the almost equally memorable stories she wrote, like Sparrow Post which was about a postal service for dolls with the delivery being made by birds.

Book

Two of Tasha Tudor's books which were named Caldecott Honor Books, Mother Goose in 1944, and 1 Is One in 1956. Tasha Tudor was awarded the Regina Medal by the Catholic Library Association. But it was Tasha Tudor uncompromising immersion in another, less comfortable century that most fascinated folks. Tasha Tudor wore kerchiefs, hand knitted sweaters, fitted bodices and flowing skirts, and usually went barefoot. Tasha Tudor actually raised her four kids in a home which did not have electricity or running water until her youngest turned five years of age.

Author Celebration Program to be held in Bellows Falls Vermont, Tasha Tudor also raised her very own farm animals, turned the flax which she grew into clothing, she also lived by homespun wisdom. Sow root crops on a waning moon, above ground plants on a waxing one. In a autobiography Tasha Tudor wrote back in 1951, she said that she did not begin School until she was 9 years of age, although there were other biographies which said that she started when she was 7 years of age. Tasha Tudor attended School at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston for a year. But she always said that she had learned to paint from her mom. Tasha Tudor's art was often framed by ornate borders like those from a medieval manuscript, but more whimsical.

Howdy My Friend Mr. dale,

Before I forget I really liked the picture of the fish you left on my blog along with your comment about Lenten Fish Fry. I had a nice laugh about that when I read your comment this morning. Alas I missed the Fish Fry even though my whole evening was originally planned around going there to get our dinner. A freak accident during a pouring rain storm found me locked out of my car. Lucky for me I found a great locksmith who showed up around 8:00 PM to get me out of my jam. I probably need to write a blog about this guy to give him some credit and maybe some business. He was supposed to be 75 miles away with his family celebrating a friend of his daughters Bday..

Tasha Tudor sounds like a truly gifted writer and great human being. She lived a long and action filled life. She wrote Mother Goose? I remember my Mom reading those stories to me when I was little. I hope they have a huge turnout for Author Celebration in Bellows Falls.
