Maybe a recession isn't so bad after all

After a little historic digging. We seem to have a pattern. The Real Estate Market has a correction. The stock market tanks. Once we enter a recession, that tends to mark the bottom. When we emerge from the recession, the real estate market starts moving again. The first Quarter of the upcoming year will redefine ugly. I hope I am wrong! I see all the data that was held back this year to be let loose beginning of next year.

Here are some charts to help with this thought

It doesn't matter if this period is tagged as a recession, depression, correction or Greenspans Gas pains.  The market will come back, and real estate will sell more easily.  Of course, between now and then, investors will find deals, and sellers will feel pain.  Of course, this could all be tossed in the trash can if the government tries to keep "fixing" everything.

I truly believe that in all markets stocks or real estate up and downs are good things.  People make money at both ends.  Buying a $200,000 house and expecting to receive a $50,000 bump in equity just isn't a sustainable model.  Most of the people I know loved to brag about how much equity they had earned in their home, yet they couldn't move up without greatly increasing their mortgage.  A downward movement will help these people eventually realize this equity.
