Inspirational Walk *Photos*|Gulf View Lots

Thanks for stopping by Long Beach, MS, Harrison County and joining me for a walk about.  It has been awhile                                      awhile since I have shared a walk with you. I have been focusing on the nuts and bolts of business in front of me rather than blogging. So here goes. My home is a little less than 1/2 mile from USM. Recently I heard about their fitness trail, so I thought I would give it a visit.

I am grateful that USM did not move for good after the storm. Of couse the buildings facing the Beach were destroyed, or partly destroyed. Presently some classes are back in operation in the buildings closer to Rail Road St. The other day I noticed the campus now has a cafe open to the public.

I was delighted to find these inspirational quotes along the Life Trail.

We have all heard this quote--but, you know what? I don't think we hear it often enough.

(Hey, everyone I am well on my way to becoming superior...)

Thanks to USM, and thank you to Playworld Systems, and of course an offering of my gratitude to the creators of the quotes that Playworld used.

Walking past the fitness trail North to HWY 90, here are some of the sights along the way. Please remember that the HWY 90 area was the last to get infrastructure back. There is still some beach front property with slabs left; but remember there is also many wonderful homes for sale that are newly built or have been restored.

Kudos to this For Sale By Owner for doing a very nice sign. The next 3 photos are to define location and to show the common view that the following properties share.

If you are obsessed with water front property--there is a LOTs available on HWY 90/Beach Blvd. Many lots are listed by REALTORS, on a whim, I just wanted to show for sale by owners today. The photos here are only a small sampling of what is available.

Note the lot on the right above is next to our new Burger King.

I spoke with the homeowner of this house and got her permission to photograph illustrating building height requirements. She and her husband are very stressed as it is taking much longer than projected to get her home finished. It seems the problem is the contractor being able to keep reliable workers. Sadly, I have talked with several elderly home owners lately who were disappointed in the work they received from contractors in re-building.

This cross is still laying on the ground. It is located to the West side of USM campus, at the front facing Beach Blvd.

Damion, Hello and Merry Christmas. That was one reason why I wanted to give the sign some visiblity--this FSBO is setting a good example. I should find out who they use...  Are you going to GCAR party tomorrow?

Suzi,

Looks like you a had a good walk and enjoying the scenery at the same time. Those inspirational quotes are something. They are short but drives the point home well with their thought provoking meanings. I always enjoy reading those wise proverbs.

I agree that the FSBO sign is very professional looking. If they can get the 260k to be in the same format that would definitely complete the job.

Dave, if a seller or agent places the price in the actual sign and the price changes, then they would have to pay for a new sign, right? How would you deal with price changes if the price were printed on the actual sign? Maybe a sign that could utilize a sign rider? Or NOT putting the price anywhere on the sign... That could put the phone number to good use:-)

PS: Can anyone choose a favorite quote from these? If so, why is the one you chose, your favorite?

PSPS: Damion, I changed the Christmas photo out. It was toooo unprofessional. How professional can a person look playing Santa's Helper for Long Beach Concert Choir?

The Harbor photo could use a little work, too--but it was taken by a new acquaintance on his boat. we traded photo taking. Here is his:

Ya have to admit, LOCALISM is one good excuse to have fun in REAL Estate. I would be happy if someone would pay me just to go out, talk to people and take pictures...Damion??:-)

Suzi,

The FSBO sign looks quite professional. However, the fact that the sales price was handwritten and stapled underneath devalue the look. I agree that it is best to leave it alone and not include any price. This would leave it open in case of price changes. I know of an agent who gets a specific sign rider with the price on it. If the price changes, then it cannot be used any more. I guess in that case, the sign can be used on a another property if the price is exactly the same as the rider that was originally purchased.

As far as which quote is my favorite, it is almost impossible to decide as they are all full of wit and wisdom in their own ways. But if I had to choose one, I would probably select David Starr Jordan's quote.

"Wisdom is knowing what to do next; virtue is doing it."

That is quite powerful. The reason for this selection is due to the fact that ACTIONS speak louder than WORDS. You see...there are many very knowledgeable people out there. They have read countless books and have exceptional expertise on a particular topic. Ultimately, the fact of knowing does not mean anything until one manifest this knowledge into action.

I believe that one can have the knowledge but if that knowledge is not applied to bring it into fruition, it is like that of an ignorant person. Let's think about it....a person with knowledge but no action is no different than a person with no knowledge.

However, a person with no knowledge but take action is superior. This person may make mistakes along the way but he/she will learn from it and improve over time. This ACTION taken by this person with no knowledge can make them knowledgeable just by simply trying things out and not worrying about making mistakes.

In closing out the remarks on the favorite quote, it is great to know what to do next. This keeps us focus and it is a game plan that allows us to get from A to B. Only doing it will give virtue to the wisdom. Thanks for sharing the pictures of these quotes of wisdom and for letting me share my favorite quote. :)

Wow, Dave. You are busy and take time for me. It makes me feel special, so --thanks! I guess we could sum it up as "Faith Without Works is Dead." I agree, it is a near impossible task to pick a favorite. Its like being asked to choose a favorite client, favorite color, favorite pet...

REgarding Real Estate signs, I put the price on the mls AND In ads that I do, but not usually on signs, though I may attach a flier box. I have an odd property now that I haven't done the flier box yet. It is an appealing property, but when locals call for the price they are usually upset with me. If they don't hang up immediately I can offer to help them find something in their range, but they are usually not in the mood to be helped by me after getting the price on the property in question.

On the other hand, The owner of the sign we are analyzing is saavy to include the price in some REgards because property in this area is very expensive. If people know this, they will think he is reasonable. If people are not aware of Gulf View lots on HWY 90. they may think he is ... well, you know.

If he does another sign, I would advise showing the shape of the parcel and dimensions of the lot.

REgards, Suzi
