From Blogging to Handshake...Guess Who I Met???

We connect with each other daily through our blogs! Comments back and forth...emails...and occasionally, we pick up the phone and call the person behind the computer on the other end! That last action is a pretty unique experience.

It's always great to meet a fellow blogger in person. If you're new to blogging, I would definitely recommend that you take the opportunity to meet local bloggers at your local cafe or visit their office... My point is, take the opportunity to meet the on-line person, off-line. Often times the experience is that you feel like you already know the other person just by way of your on-line interactions alone.

Recently, my girlfriend and I took a vacation and we had the pleasure of meeting a fellow Active Rain member. What makes this particular meeting unique is that I'm from California which makes this the first time I meet an Active Rain member out-of-state.

When you think of this person, this song should come to mind.

Guess who?

Ricardo,

That is so true--it's almost as if people you "meet" on Active Rain are floating out there in cyberspace somehow--it's nice to actually meet "in the flesh", so to speak- to hear a voice not just "read" their voice!!

Ricardo, great that you had an Active Rain get-together.  I won't reveal the big secret identity here, so people can go to your outside blog to find out for themselves.  I've had the pleasure of meeting about 1/2 dozen Rainers in person and look forward to meeting many more.

Charlie: it's kind of weird isn't it? To have someone recognize you like that. But it's also very welcoming and exciting! You should connect with some local bloggers and just ask if they'd like to get together one day for lunch.

Faith: what's really cool is when you hear the voice behind the blog! I mean think about it, we blog daily enough, back and forth with our subscribers...then one day you meet or you speak with the person on the phone. Very exciting indeed! I say if you're new to blogging, find a local mentor and meet with them. And if you're experienced in blogging, find someone to mentor :)

Peggy: it should be fun when you all finally meet! My experience here has been excellent and I've met several members here in my State. I'd like to meet so many more and so far, my guest appearance here is the first out-of-state blogger I meet...and it's a trend I hope to continue!

Brian: you've had quite the experience since joining the network and I believe I've read some of your earlier posts hi-lighting recent get-togethers. It's definitely exciting to meet people that you feel connected with through the network and I'm sure that your writing will attract many more!

To everyone, Happy Blogging!!!

I agree, when I met Kelly Sibilinsky  of active rain , it was worth a 1000 emails.   I felt I knew a lot about her from her blogs, but it was great to make the connection

Brian Sharkey: they should! Blogging will most certainly be a part of everyone's Business Plan for 2008...and if it isn't, it should be! If they still say "no" to blogging, more market share for me :)

Judy: isn't it great to meet them in-the-flesh so-to-speak? I'm sure your meeting was well worth it!

Heather: it most certainly is!

I guess it would be ok to meet fellow Rainers as long as the Dateline cameras do not show up.

Al: just phone away and schedule a lunch! We've done that here in California on a couple of occasions. It's always great to hear insights from people on what's working and what isn't.

Joseph: lol. I wonder if there are any stories of couples who met here on the Rain?
