It's Safety First for Daylight Savings Time - Change More Than Your Clocks!
Daylight Savings Time change offers us a great opportunity to remember safety first and the many things we should "check on" also.
It is a great time to remember to change your Smoke Detector batteries and check your Carbon Monoxide Detector batteries.
Remove the grill from the bottom of your refrigerator and freezer and vacuum all the dust and build-up off the coils. This also helps them to run more efficiently, saving electricity.
Clean out your dryer vent. Did you know that this item is one of the major causes of fires within the home? Get yourself a special brush for cleaning these vents or get your shop vac vacuum hose in this vent and clean out all that lint.
Our gutters and downspouts have collected a ton of debris blown in by the wind and weather over the winter. Today is a perfect day for cleaning them out in preparation for the Spring rains. Keep that water flowing away from the house.
Change your furnace filters. They'll operate more efficiently for the remainder of our chilly nights.
Prepare your air conditioners. Take out and clean all your air conditioner filters too.
Warm weather brings back Summer Bugs. This is a great time to spray the exterior perimeter of your home with Bug guard to help prevent them from causing destruction or getting into the home.
WASH YOUR CAR WINDOWS! Having the defrost and heat on over the winter has produced quite a nasty build-up on our windshields and now that we will be driving in the sunshine more often we need to get all the gunk off to be sure we are seeing the road, and everything that may be out on the roads, more clearly.
Safety First.
