Eliminating Inefficiencies in Real Estate - A Contest
How many of you can remember exactly where you were and what you were doing on April 22, 1970? I can. Strange you might say, but I was at an event that changed the way a new generation of Americans thought about the planet we live on and began to be concerned about how we were going to leave it for our children.
I was a high school student in New York City and attended the first Earth Day Celebration in Central Park. On that day I realized we all had to do our part, no matter how small, to change our habits. Those were the days of the big V-8 leaded gas guzzlers spewing noxious fumes into the atmosphere and factories polluting our waterways with their toxic waste. We had our work cut out for us. Now I’m no self professed tree hugger, but I have always tried to do my part. I remember the early days of recycling in NJ, we had 8 different bins in our garage for the different products. We have tried to pass our values onto the next generation and hope they will follow suit..
Things have improved dramatically in the 40+ years since that first Earth Day. Some changes were made voluntarily by a concerned population, but some had to be done through legislation, but still things improved.
Now you may ask yourself “what has this to do with inefficiencies in Real Estate?” Fast forward to the present. One of the things that has always bothered me is the waste of paper. I envision forests being mowed down as we haphazardly crumple up pieces of paper and toss them at the waste basket.
In our real estate business we have always tried to conserve paper by printing on both sides or limiting the amount of printing required, but the best thing we have encountered to save both paper and time is Docusign.
We started using Docusign last year in conjunction with Zip Forms and we love it. I can create the document in Zip Forms, have it sent to Docusign to set up the signatures and parties to e-mail it too and then follow it every step of the way until it is e-mailed back. Not one piece of paper wasted, I LOVE IT!
All agents should be using it and trying to educate all their clients about the simplicity of using Docusign. We will admit, we had one client print out a contract and mail it back and another attempt to fax a document until we explained how simple it is to use, but most people grasp the concept immediately and love it.
So we say to you, save a tree today, use Docusign.
