Goodwill

Goodwill not a new concept at all but recently I have seen these types of stores increase in business. It may be due to the economy, cutting back in every area that you can to save alittle.  I know for me it is so much more fun to shop and find a good deal. It is a challenge and a great experience all at the same time. I love to go find an outfit put it together and see the surprise on my friends and families when I tell them how much and where it was purchased. I also love taking something old someone dropped off thinking that is out of date or just didn't want or need it anymore.  I purchased two lamps a couple of months ago for $3 a piece. I painted them and gave one to my mom. I bought a new lamp shade for it and transformed it into something new and fun. I get so many compliments on the things I purchase at Goodwill and other thrift stores.

The fun part to me is your helping in so many ways, one great way is your keeping those items out of landfills by purchasing them and keeping them circlulating. I like to look at things and imagine what they could be and bring new life to them.

Also clothes shopping is fun because you wouldn't believe what people donate, it's fun and really helps out on the pocket book! I could spend hours in these stores, well sometimes I actually do. I think the experience is so much more fun than going into a store and paying $75 for a shirt and feeling guilty later that you spent the money.

I think this is my new hobby, it is fun to decorate your home with these things and makes the dollar go a long way!!

Here is my lamp I bought for $3 (the lamp shade was $20) so still not a bad price for a new lamp considering the size of the lamp!

Also I bought some chairs for $5 each and refinished them for my dining table.  They make wonderful conversation pieces when you have company over!

Goodwill stores are doing well in our area. The Consigment stores, especially for children's clothes, are also doing a really good business.  Seems to really help stretch a budget.

Deana,

I love what you've done with the chair. I should try shopping at Goodwill as well.
