"Why I make Colorado my home" photo essay

I decided to express my love for Colorado and what better way than in photos:

This is what you see heading north into Colorado from NM!!!

Sangra de Christo

This little guy is a regular in my backyard! Maybe because I leave him treats!

wildlife

Because of the mountains to the west, we don't get many pretty sunsets, but this was an exception!!!

This was a scene I happened across on my way to work! It's someone's front yard!

The sun smiles on downtown Denver!!!

This is not a snow drift, it's my car! Guess I took the day off!!!

Happy Holidays!!! I hope you enjoyed my photos!!!

Elaine, love the photos.  I've entered Colorado from Kansas and it was great to see it from another perspective.  The deer are amazing!  Did they eat the garden?

Patricia- that shot was taken in Evergreen. If you talk to anyone that lives there, herds of deer and elk are very destructive, eating gardens, scratching bark off trees. I thought they were pretty, but I don't have to live with them!!!

My and my husbands dream is to retire in Colorado.   We try to come up and go skiing every year.  His parents have a condo in Beaver Creek we use as much as possible.  We absolutely love it there.  I know most people retire in Florida, definitely not Texas...but not us!  I'm jealous that you live there.  Enjoy.

We came out here for a vacation, and I fell in love with it! Within six months we were living here, and that was 14 years ago! The best part--no matter where I go on a trip, I am always happy to come home!!

Fernando-I grew up in NY and NJ and when I first came out here, I was intimidated by the big open spaces. Now, when I go back east I get claustrophobic!!! LOVE Florida, but I gotta have some snow!!!

Thanks, Ginger! I have a Kodak DX6340, which is old and not expensive, but has turned out to be a great little camera. I was born in Newburgh, though we lived in Glenham at the time. I was really too young to remember, because we only stayed there a couple of years. Then spent fours years in Cheshire, CT, and wound up in South Jersey. But, my grandparents were in Schenectady, so I spent a lot of time in upstate NY!

LOVE NC! We use to go camping there when we were kids (Myrtle Beach was our favorite), and I have an aunt in Southern Pines and a brother in Asheville!

Elaine, people also comment on my photos, and I tell them that when you live in Colorado, you can't help but take beautiful photos.  It is tough to take a bad photo here.  These are proof positive, and thanks for sharing them.

Dena-I look forward to seeing your photos!

Joanne-You are SO right! Just driving around every day, I see so many sights that would make great photos! I just purchased a smaller, lighter camera and I intend to take it with me everywhere!

Ah, Colorado.  It's a pretty place, but I couldn't deal with the snow.  Love playing in it, but don't want to live in that much of it.

You ever see the commericail about the guy diggin his car out and then hitting his remote to unlock the doors.  His car was the one still under a ton of snow parked in front of the one he dug out.

Wouldn't that be a bummer?

Just a thought for you.  Turn off the members only and post this to localism for your area.  It's a good photo essay and can bring you additonal exposure.  If you don't know how to post to Localism, read this link

Several posts about how to post to localism

Localism in Lakewood, CO

Upload some photos to localism and get a few points.

Ya got some great stuff. Use it.

Erby-Thanks for the advice. I'm still pretty new at this and learning the ropes. I say if it's going to snow, let's have a good 3-4 feet of it, so NO ONE is going ANYWHERE!!!

You're welcome.  You may also want to go back thru your blog and see if any of the other posts are good to put on localism.  I looked and I think some of them are.

AND you keep that 3-4 feet of snow right where it belongs there with you.

I don't want any of it.  None, Nada, Zip.  You can have it all!
