Eliminating inefficiencies in your Real Estate business
We sure can get caught up in so many time robbers these days can’t we? One of them for me is time spent online. It’s a treat to be able to spend time (which often melts into hours if I’m not careful) surfing. I can fill my head with soooooooo much information! I get so excited when I come across a neat idea, read something that triggers an ahha moment, that at times I almost feel overwhelmed.Like Al Raymondi, who wrote in his post - on how he eliminates inefficiencies in his business; I too work from home, my office and even on the road with my iPad. So keeping up with all these ‘brilliant ideas’ for me was becoming a hassle...
So just how did I eliminate loosing my thoughts, ideas and learn how to work smarter?I do love Google Docs; it’s where I can write a blog post, save docs online, and collaborate with my team. But I have another tool in the clouds too; it’s what I call my ‘brain" dumping ground... The tool... EverNote!
If you’ve never checked it out please do. But be forewarned: when I first started using it I didn’t see the benefits OR how it could work for me in my business. I’m glad I took a second look because now I’m hooked.What's more REMEMBER it's FREE!
May I share a couple ways I use this amazing product with you?
First of all for taking notes;
I always take notes. It serves two purposes - first, writing something down helps me remember it better; and secondly of course I then have notes to refer to...
So I love having EverNote on my iPad with me. I have followed some suggestions that I’ve read that others do for their note taking systems: this helps to organize your notes and find things better.
- use an ! or * for an idea that’s fresh/new and one I want to implement
- use an && sign for an idea that needs following up
- use @ for an item that needs tracking
- ?? for an item that needs more researching
Well you get the idea - But here’s another way you can use this cool little tool I’d like to share; this just recently happened while at a conference... I was taking notes as usual on my iPad, the presenter was SO animated and FAST I found it hard to keep up. So I thought, well if I can’t write it all down I can use the recorder and RECORD it for later listening.That worked like a charm! In fact my colleagues at the table were so impressed they asked if I would share my notes. I said sure and using another great feature in EverNote emailed them each a copy right then and there!
Since this contest is for all of us bloggers here in the rain, I thought I’d pass along how I love using EverNote for blogging.
Do you find you get some great ideas while reading other posts or visiting a new webpage? You’ll love the capability of clipping a section OR a whole page into EverNote. Don't worry about loosing those treasures beacuse in EverNote you can set up and save your notes in different Notebooks PLUS add tags to them if they over lap one another. So if I get inspired by a particular article all I do is clip it and save it to my “blog ideas’ notebook!
Now for more blogging fodder; I can take photos from EverNote on my Droid (or any other smartphone or your iPad 2) and then some notes on anything from a new subdivision, restaurant, listing etc and then once back on my MAC (or PC if you’re still using one) finalize my blog. {* images taken in EverNote with text are searchable}
Some ideas of notebooks that I have started are Blogging Ideas, Recipe’s, Templates (if you find you use the same letter or email over and over), Travel, E-books, ActiveRain (of course) and Personal. I’m sure once you start you’ll come up with lots of ideas of how you can use your Notebooks within EverNote!
IF by CHANCE you enjoy reading would you hit that button please...
