I know I will be one of many out there snapping away furiously this weekend amassing a huge collection of photos to upload to http://www.localism.com/ - urged on by the Rain Gods and their promise of a shower of points for the posting of photos.

It doesn't take a fortune to get a great digital camera - in fact - now is the perfect time to get one if you don't already have one!  End of year tax deduction.  Tool for real estate in general.  Point generator for Active Rain and higher placement in http://www.localism.com/ - what more could you ask for?!

We use a Kodak EasyShare DX4530.  I think we have had it for about a year.  For those of you intimidated by the thought of taking pictures - in times past myself included - Kodak offers great online support - including tutorials on how to get the most out of your camera.  We bought this at Costco - a great place to get the lowest prices around.

We use CNet for researching technology products before we buy them.  Although the DX4530 is no longer available, the current CNet reviews "top of the charts" camera - the Canon PowerShot SD600 is offered on Costco.com for a mere $219.99. Not a recommendation - just something to evaluate for yourself.

So ring in the New Year with a tax deduction, fresh air while taking photos, and a glass of champagne while you upload your photos to http://www.localism.com/.

Happy New Year!

I'm on it with the photographs Suzanne.  I just can't figure out how to attach my night vision device to my digital camera.  You think I'm funny?  Well guess who I road around with today who was more intent on taking pictures than anything else.  Surprised he didn't have his camera when I ran into you guys jogging in Verrado.  It's 7:25 PM and I think I have my night vision device hooked up.  See you later....got to catch up with Tony.

I have just created a new "group" on ActiveRain for anyone who is interested in Localism.  I have called the group Localism Beta for lack of a better term.

I have seen a number of different blog posts on the topic recently, including yours and yet there is no central place to locate articles that are written on such an important topic.

I would like to invite you to join the group and the edit your post and include the group as part of the distribution for others to easily find.  I would then encourage you to look and see what others have posted on the topic and share your thoughts and insights.  I am sure most of what we will see is support for the site as well as a tip or technique to best leverage it's potential to our benefit.

I am also certain that there will be some lively debate over the direction that Localism should go.  Now, I do not know what the ultimate business plan is and how much tweaking management will do on behalf of the users who have their own ideas on the site and how much is already set in stone - but certainly a debate is good for all.

So please, post your article and join us.

Now Have a Blessed Day,
