VINTAGE VICTORIAN HOME BUILT CIRCA 1876 IN THE ST ANDREWS BAY AREA OF PANAMA CITY, FL

It's one of those homes you drive past for years wondering who the lucky family is that lives there.  A huge corner lot located less than a block from the sparkling waters of beautiful St Andrews Bay in the downtown area.

At Christmastime you almost expect Norman Rockwell to be sitting on the front porch with paint brush and canvas at hand.  Candles in every window (lots of windows) and festive greenery and wreaths with red bows surround the nearly 2600 square feet of this historic home.

The formal living room boast of early Victorian charm including the original hardwood floors finished to perfection.  The staircase to the second floor has been re-built, but the steps are the original hardwood.

Everywhere you see porcelain dolls and vintage clothing and photos.  On the landing of the staircase there is a bride doll... and above her the portrait of a real bride from her Victorian wedding.

The formal dining room features crown molding and a large front window, rich wallpaper, and a passage way to the kitchen.

When this home was built, kitchens were detached from the main house in the event that the cooking fires got out of hand!  At some point in the past, the kitchen was attached to a house by a passageway from the the dining room.  There is now a half bath in this hallway off the kitchen.

The kitchen is a warm and cozy gathering place for the family.  Like most homes, it's the heart of the house.  There are plenty of cabinets, some with glass doors to show off vintage china and an island workspace/table in the center.

There is a breakfast room off the kitchen that overlooks the backyard focusing on the pool deck.

(We'll get to the pool soon!)

The master bedroom suite is on the first floor.  It is simply precious!  (If you are Southern, then you know that is the highest compliment that can be given!)  Hardwood floors, huge walk-in closet with built-in dresser, and an adorable vintage-decor in the master bath.  There are 10 windows in the master bath with the cutest vintage shades you've ever seen.  The free-standing tub with rain shower completes the room.mbd

The second floor was once an attic, but was totally renovated and now houses three adorable bedrooms.  One large bedroom in the center with a smaller bedroom at the top of the stairs, and a loft-style child's bedroom in the back.  There is a full bath upstairs.  Each bedroom has its own personality from the child's room with teddy bears, baby dolls, and tea sets to the feminine little girl's room with gingham wallpaper, lace bedspread, and porcelain dolls.

The home sits on three lots encompassing half the block.  The privacy fenced back yard is spacious offering a bricked patio, a fountain, plenty of play area, and an over-sized in-ground gunite pool with sufficient depth (9.5 ft) for a diving board.  A cool deck surrounds the pool with steps entering the breakfast area/kitchen.

From this view of the back of the house, you can see most of the 10 master bath windows, the bricked patio to the left coming from the den, and the steps going up to the breakfast area/kitchen entrance.  The gate on the right side of the main house leads to a guest house with its own bedroom/living area, full bath, and complete kitchen including a workstation island.

Of course this Victorian era property is graced with century old oaks (no telling how many centuries this oak on the right has seen) dripping with moss and providing shade and beauty.

The home is less than block from St Andrews Bay ... leading into the Gulf of Mexico this bay is one of the most important resources in Bay County.  It is also one of the most beautiful bays in our area.

This is the view of St Andrews Bay at the end of the street (less than a block) from the driveway of the home.

St Andrews Bay

This wonderful Vintage Victorian home located in the heart of St Andrews less than a block from the Bay is priced at $550,000 and can be shown by private appointment.

How could you not like a Victorian? I love the character they have- so much detail and they are one of my favorite style homes.

You have the best of both worlds- a New England charm style home plus the benefits of Florida weather!! Love the pool and the water view is beautiful!
