A&P - I can imagine your heart rate went up when you saw the footprints. Yep I'm all for a home security system and all other measures to protect our family and property.
Those would not be welcome at any time. Time to get a panel that has a cover that needs to be lifted to make an entry, that way the lights cannpt be seen.
Yes John it was thumping like a dog's tail waiting to go for a walk!
Our panel has a cover but it goes down over the key pad and not the light section Ed! You can bet its taped now and always on! So the intruder will always see red.
Al/Peggy, Good to hear that you covered the panel and how frightening it must have been for you...leaving the alarm on all the time now makes sense!
Al/Peggy...that would have scared the daylights out of me. If someone wants in bad enough they will find a way but there's no reason we should make it easy for them. Good post.
It really is a just added safety measure and when we 'trip' it in error, and someone calls us, its confirmation and nice to know there really is someone watching.
It did Anita, especially since we slept right through the visit!! Guess we didn't have anything useful to them!
Al and Peggy I have lived in my house for 31 years and have never had a problem, but you are right, you never know when the first time will happen.
You have us beat George, only been in this home coming up 10 years. This was a first, but you never know. Wanna be safe not sorry.
Al & Peggy, I often set ours even when we are home and going to sleep, I set it to recognize our motions inside but keep out intruders from outside.
That has been our new system ever since we spotted those foot prints Ellen!
Al & Peggy, great point...shouldn't make it any easier for the opportunist...now that's a watered down word for a low life isn't it! Anyway, not a lot of foot prints around my neighborhood that don't belong...most people including myself here in Alabama always have a gun close at hand and everyone knows it, but there is the occasional idiot!
