I want to make this a fun post.  I'd like to hear what some of your Christmas traditions are:

I will start the list off:

Please share with us your family's traditions.

Santa Claus - making cookies and leaving them on the fireplace mantel for Santa Claus - oh with a glass of milk!

OK (let me break in here and share a cool, quick Cheesecake recipe with you)

 Rosemary's 1-2-3 Cheesecake

  •  1/3 cup lemon juice
  • 1 can Eagle Brand condensed milk
  • 1 stick of Philly cream cheese
  • 1 graham cracker crust

Mix up the juice, milk, cream cheese until it is somewhat solid.  Pour into pan, chill and serve.  Can't get any easier than that!

Christmas Trees - my daughter will put the tree up just BEFORE Thanksgiving!! Of course, we all get a big laugh out that but before you know it we're all in there helping her decorate it.  I am not sure when this started, I know I did not set that example.  I do my tree mid December at best.

Gifts - small ones, a few large ones, and all in between.  Thank God for the Black Friday Sales......

Poinsettia - my favorite, adds life to the scene. I usually will put on the front door and it serves as a Welcome to our home and enjoy the holiday season.

Mistletoe - I love getting the kisses!

Christmas dinner - the prayer before is special to give thanks to Jesus Christ. And after dinner, we sit around the fireplace and sing and play games.  I love it!

A tip from Santa: "Remember, teach the Children the true meaning of Christmas and the traditions that we hold near and dear to us, and not to put me in the center, for I am but a humble servant of the One who is, and I bow down and worship Him, our Lord, our God."

What is your Christmas tradition?  I'd love to hear.

One other question, when do you start your 12 days of Christmas - before or after Christmas?

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and your family & Friends!

We always go the movies on Christmas Day.  It is not crowded and we have a blast.  My daughters look forward to this tradition every year.

This year has been a little different I have both my kids back at home with me and they requested that I do the traditional morning Christmas.  I make sausage balls in mass quanities the night before and then bake them Christmas morning, along with weiner wraps, muffins, sausage egg casserole, fruit and fruit dip.

Typically the Sunday before Christmas we go to the grandparents but this year due to family illness we will be taking that party to my sisters as it is closer to my neice and nephew and we are doing it on Christmas Eve for the huge family dinner.

When we get home I will start the preparations for Christmas morning, leaving milk and buckeyes out for Santa.  The kids and I will open one present each before retiring to bed on Christmas Eve.  Then I will sneak in and fill their stockings and put a few little goodies out like Santa really came by.

On Christmas day we will get up early have our breakfast and munch on this most of the day.  Open the rest of the presents with Christmas music playing in the background.  Then around dinner time we will dive into all the left overs.

We don't nor have we ever done the traditional 12 days of Christmas but when I was married to their father we did the Advent which started a month before I think (?) I'm not Catholic so that one never really stuck, lol.

Rosemary and all AR have a safe and Merry Christmas.  God Bless you all.

Rosemary : Coming from a "fat Greek family" I enjoy the Christmas enormously! I am always over my parents where the entire family and friend gather for the traditional Christmas meal and gifts ritual. It is the best.

In our Greek Orthodox tradition we also have a Pre-Christmas holiday we call St. Nicholas on the 6th. Dec. Children would put their shoes on the window sill and over night St.Nicholas would leave candies.

12/12/2007 04:46 PM by Arina Hanciulescu (ELITE REALTY)

Arina I love Greek food.  We had neighbors I babysat for way back in the day.  Then the guy I dated in high school his best friend was Greek... but I digress just came really to tell Rosemary that she is welcome.

Rosemary you are so welcome.  I hope you all have a wonderful holiday.

Arina (what a lovely name) - sounds like you had some of that good old fun holiday times.  Enjoy your family and friends this holiday season.

Linda, you are so awesome!  It has been a pleasure knowing you .... short but great.

Tell you the truth Rosemary, I feel bleast to come from that background not only for the holidays but all year around. My family members are very close to each other and very much into each other's business -:).

But because of that I survive, as single young women, in this demanding harsh world we live in.

12/12/2007 05:41 PM by Arina Hanciulescu (ELITE REALTY)

Arina - I have always wanted sisters and a large family.  We had a small family.  I had no sisters and only 1 brother.  Think I'll give him a call... thanks for reminding me how much I love him.  You are right all year long we are blessed to be who we are and who we have in our lives.  God bless and enjoy your holidays.  And please be safe.

Rosemary, our tradition is kind of corny, but simple. Day of Thanksgiving we start putting the outside and inside lights up. We put two trees in the house and have one outside. By the end of the weekend, we have it all lite for the neighborhood to see. And we top it off with the hanging of the 60" wreath.

12/13/2007 11:42 AM by Danny Thornton (Home America Mortgage, INC.)

Danny - not corny at all sounds like lots of fun and I am sure the neighbors follow your lead with whatever they are going to do to at least be reminded that the season is coming up and get out their decorations.  Thanks for sharing and a very Happy and Safe Holiday Season to you and your family.  God bless.
