I recently signed up for Google Alerts to give me updates on the Charlotte, NC real estate market. Wouldn't you know an alert comes in and it is an Active Rain blog!

Terry McDonald posted a blog about Charlotte home prices being up from last year at 11.50 am. I got an alert at 2.24pm. That means in less than 3 hours after his post, Google had indexed it and sent it out in an alert!

That is awesome and exciting. What you submit here is spidered almost instantly!

Active Rain works folks!

The spiders definitely love the blogs.  It is definitely good to keep blogging to raise your Google ratings.

Google alerts are not an indication that the page is already indexed.  Google as well a few smaller search aggregators continually scan the Internet for websites, blogs, video content, and newsgroups for the search term you entered by users.  These requests are term specific and only performed upon request. The greater Internet community is trying to figure out how this technology will be converted into a for fee service in the long-term.

Google is publicly promoting their tool compared to some of the smaller companies involved in developing this technology.  Currently, it is still in beta testing mode.  You can tell a site has been indexed as it will display a cached date and give a link to the last index version along with the date it was indexed if you clicked the cached link.

Any site can achieve the same results with the technology being used.  Try it on you own websites, provided they are search engine friendly.  That is another conversation for a later discussion.

I saw a presentation by a young man that blew my mind.  He had a program that could go out and search the entire Internet for words related to feeling or mood.  It would decipher if the write as male or female, young or old, what country there were from the depth of the emotions being in the message and a whole lot of other stuff.

Then it would produce a rotating Cloud of the world sought of like on ActiveRain and highly in colors the meanings and interpretations of the messages and communications.  I was blown away at the depth of information and knowledge that was being complied.

There are some awfully smart folk involved in some of the research going on.  This cat was young and very intellectual in the methods being used as well as presenting the findings.

Ntsike... You lost me! Bottom line for me is how fast Google found it. Maybe they have not "indexed" it, but they have seen it and with all that they do index, I have to think it is in their system.
